A Wigan based Chelsea fan!

Featured Replies

Hi all! I'm from Wigan, 3 years ago I gave my son a choice of who he could support, he toyed with man united/City Everton, Arsenal, but decided on Chelsea, due to the kit/badge and players! Ever since then me and the wife have bought him the kids training tops with his initials on from Chelsea.com. Due to this I've followed you due to him and feel a big affiliation to the club now! Im 35 and I'm a Wigan athletic fan, and my son has been signed for Wigan for the past 3 years, he's 10..... I've always been reluctant to join here as I'm not from London and have no connections with the club apart from my son!

im bringing him down soon for a game, and staying over, I want to go a few Chelsea boozers before the game and after, probably a daft question but will we be ok due to my northern voice! Ha ha, few people up here saying don't go in the boozers if ur not a southerner before a game! If you can let me know pubs etc to go I'd appreciate it!!

Thanks a lot!!

Dont believe any crap about not being welcome mate, we've always had a big Northern following, ive got a mate from Penrith who comes down for every home game, i also know lads from Darlington.

Also we're not bullies & would never target a fan beit Chelsea or away fan who was with his kid.

The Goose is a good pub to take kids to, nearest tube in West Brompton & also there's a hotel nearby the station as well.

Enjoy your trip i hope your son has a good day.

I'm a displaced Londoner living in Shropshire and travel down with a load of Salopians to matches.  A lot of them sound very non-London (Welsh, Brummy, Wolverhampton, rural Shropshire) and never have any problems in any of the various boozers they go to.  Really not a problem at all, though I can understand why you could think it might be.

Don't be silly mate as CB said our support  is huge up norf.  It's not an issue at all.  Relax and enjoy yourself.  By the way I'm Irish and I've been going to Chelsea since 1994 never had any real issues
