February 6, 20188 yr If I'm honest I haven't been a fan when we were really crap, I'm an 80's baby, I remember when I first went to the bridge, '94 we lost at home to Rovers, this was spencer days, Hoddle was manager, we finished mid table that year 1 place above arsenal, and I didn't mind it less expectation. The following year we had 2 mid table finishes then Gullit came along, we got 6th and I thought hold on we could be getting somewhere here, 97-98 season qualified for Europe, for me these were the best years then when Roman came in it was dreamland, I couldn't go back though. Those golden years for me 97-03 were one stage where we were doing brilliantly without money, when the money came and we became elite this was another chapter, I'm now used to us being elite I couldn't go back, call it plastic call it whatever, it would feel crap to be 6th now whereas back then it felt like progress, different times, different dynamics, cant look down on fans for getting used to success.
February 7, 20188 yr The modern day club is more professional / Business these days. Stamford bridge when started going in 1978 was open on a match day or a reserve game. So 19 league games, cup games [not many back then!] and reserve games with one man and his dog. A ticket office that you didn’t have to visit as it was pay at the turnstiles back then. Also a portacabin was our mega store! With what goes on today, what we pay for a game is just a slice of the big financial cake. So I would say that what we feel like is not that important unfortunately. Even a basic transfer know one knows who does what. This shows the club is not transparent and is not interested in people knowing how it operates.
