clubhappy
On Michael Carrick - " Carrick was signed for Spurs a few years back for ?3m. That's the level he is at. He is a nothing player. He is one-paced. He doesn't have the personality to always get on the ball like a United player should. " On Rio Ferdinand - " Ferdinand is a clown. He was a liability for the first goal and he is always a liability. It was Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink against Rio Ferdinand of Barclays Bank. " On Fabio Cannavarro - "If Rio Ferdinand is worth ?100,000 a week, then this guy is worth EUR100 million . . . . . a day" On the Midfield - " United have nothing in midfield - they are a shambles. Any decent sides they meet will destroy them. " On Barcelona - "After watching Watford against Manchester City last night that was like a bubblebath. It was beautiful." On Roy Keane - He's a gentleman. He's a class act. He's a rebel. And he stands up to bullies." On Roy Keane - "He's right, he's right about everything!" On Niall Quinn - "I'm not gonna address the Niall Quinn agenda, Niall Quinn is a creep" On Niall Quinn - "The man's an idiot, a Mother Theresa" On Kevin Kilbane - "Kilbane's head is better than his feet. If only he had three heads, one on the end of each leg." On Liam Brady and the vacant Irish Job - "It would have to be a young, hungry fighter. that rules out everybody here." On Harry Kewell - "Kewell should have been yanked off the pitch at half time and put in a hot bath, a boiling hot bath." On Harry Kewell again - "He's fat and a clown, Bill, a fat clown for all to see" On Luis Garcia - "They (Liverpool) should put Garcia where he belongs - in the dustbin." On Ireland in the 2002 World Cup - "I will be supporting Germany and Saudi Arabia in the contests ahead." On Garth Crooks and Sven Goran Eriksson - "ha, ha, ha, that's the first time you'll see se* between 2 men live on the bbc" On Djibril Cisse - "here we have Cisse, right wing, attempts to put in a cross, BANG...hits the full back, again BANG hits the full back, BANG...off the full back again, and once more, BANG...smacks the full back again.... Millions of euro and he can't clear the first man, I mean...whats he trying to do to the full back here, Kill him??" On Liverpool v Barca - "I was hoping in the last fifteen minutes that Barcelona would beat them. I've made my mine up on Benitez tonight. He's a nice man but he's got a huge negative streak running through him. Liverpool were terrible in the second half. They didn't play football. If that was a concert, you'd boo. Gerrard: found out. A nothing player. They were terrible. Terrible
Liam
Do you think he'd get a job on ITV? He's a prick but he's never boring.
shammy feen
I wonder what Gabby Yorath would make of Eamo? He is a million times more entertaining than the likes of Jamie Rednapp and Peter Scmeichel.
g3.7
Do you think he'd get a job on ITV?He's a prick but he's never boring. he's a tosser who seems desperate for controversy... I was thinking actually just now about who would be my ideal punditry team... I'd go with... presenter- james richardson. limited to rubbish channels now as he's stuck with serie a, but he's still the best IMO. actually recognises that there are leagues outside of england. pundits - hansen. obviously... he's the best. -strachan. funny, and a good pundit too. I like lineker, but not his rubbish scripted jokes. I reckon he'd be a better pundit than a presenter... but the third one could go to a few people... gullit, desailly, leonardo... Liam
We had Joe Kinnear once in Ireland during USA 94 I think. There was a tea-time show which was a sort of debate in front of an audience. Joe told a story about Vinnie Jones which ended with the immortal line: "If you do that again I'll rip your 'ead off and sh*t in the 'ole" The shocked silence in the audience was audible. Joe has never been seen again. I like Hansen and Strachen myself. I wouldn't ne mad on Linekar. I'd put Dunphy in my dream team if only because when Rijkaard spat at Voller Dunphy did a hilarious commentary on it using the tracker pen to show the trajectory of the spittle. clubhappy
Liam , do you remember the incident with Eamo during the 1990 W.C. after the nil nil draw v Egypt ? He was so disgusted he threw his pen away and said he was ashamed to be Irish , then tried to get out of it by claiming he was misquoted and what he really said was ''He was ashamed of Irish football ''. I dont like Dunphy , but i'll give him credit for one thing , he was right about J.Charlton . An ignorant bully .
Liam
I remember it well Clubhappy. I also remember him being banned by Charlton from his press conferences. Charlton used the immortal line: "I don't have to talk to him. He's a bitter little man" (better when spoken in Charlton's accent) While I have you here Clubhappy, have you read Paul McGrath's autobiography? Bring many a tear to your eye. Backbiter
Some classic Dunphy quoted there. The man is a complete lunatic. On Roy Keane - He's a gentleman. He's a class act. He's a rebel. And he stands up to bullies." What he wrote in his book about his criminal assault on Haaland was really classy and gentlemanly. As was the way he refused to be bullied by him. What a role-model. Pity more players don't behave like that - the game would be all the better for it.
clubhappy
Liam , ive read it twice , and will probably read it again . A stunning read and yes , brought a huge lump to my throat . An extremly loveable man and i'd recommend everybody read it . Back to Eamo , the incident with Charlton your on about i still have on video . I remember Charlton saying ''Your not a proper journalist '' Dunphy ''Yes i am , i write for the Irish Independent , ive written 2 best sellers ''. Fair play to Dunphy though , he stood his ground and i completely agree with him on the Charlton issue . On Charlton , i went to a Questions and Answers night featuring Charlton back in , i think about 1992 . F**k me , a complete c**t , dismissed peoples questions and was snapping at anybody who didnt see his point of view . One fan i remember asked him , ''Jack , do you accept you technically finished Liam Brady's carreer '' ? A question i felt he was entitled to answer . Charlton replied back , ''I didnt come here to answer questions like that so dont ask me that again or i'll walk out '' He was also ignorant , rude , so self centered and unlikeable .
