Season ticket & points question - Any help much appreciated!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I am looking for some information on season tickets and gaining enough points to have a chance at a season ticket as looking into this I'm not sure how someone can generate enough points to be able to gain a season ticket with the current points system.

Talking with the ticketing office it seems an individual requires c.100 points (if anyone can possibly confirm this it would be much appreciated!) to be in the running for a season ticket each year, however I'm not sure how one could accumulate that many points realistically based on the below:

1. Premier League:  Given on average a home game will provide 3 points (average of 1, 3 and 5 points), this equates to 57 points (19x3) if one attended all home games.  In reality, it's unlikely one can given many of the AA and A games require a points total in excess of 70 to be in the first batches of people buying tickets, however let's take the maximum possible points for now.  Similarly, it's unlikely one is able to get to many away games given the limited capacity and these usually being allocated to season ticket holders

2.  Domestic cups:  Again, presuming you play on average 4 home games per cup run, and this is optimistic given scheduling and the runs being made, this equates to 24 points (3x4x2).  I appreciate some of the earlier rounds might be higher points, but I can't imagine last 16 onwards would be given the likely stronger opposition and it's already quite optimistic that there would be 4 home games in both cup runs

3.  Champions League:  When in the competition I am guessing it's approximately 3 points for each home game in the group stages, with it unlikely a ticket would be available for the knockout rounds irrespective of the opposition.  One potential question I have is what are the points for away group games as I'm guessing it might be slightly higher for these?  Again, just going on the home games alone this is 9 points (3x3)

In total all of the above is equal to 90 points and presumes a chance to be able to attend every home Premier League game and is therefore quite unrealistic

Is there any way to bolster one's points total before the start of the season, potentially through friendlies or the pre-season games?  Any other suggestions on ways to increase one's points total would be greatly appreciated, including use of the ticketing website given it can often be a bit of a minefield to navigate!

Many thanks!

Up the Chels 🙂

This season it’s 136, last season was 120 more or less. You basically have to attend all home games and most away (including cups) and, to be certain, at least one European away.

That’ll be hard next season :laugh2:
