1965 League Cup final - question and picture request

Featured Replies

First of all can anyone confirm something for me. I think that we wore our yellow away strip in the 2nd leg of the final (0-0 away at Leicester) but am not 100% sure - anyone know for sure.

Secondly does anyone have any pictures from that day that they can scan and send me. I have had a look on the internet and found next to nothing and my scanner is bust so I can't scan the few pictures I have found in books.

This is all I could find for now - I'll keep looking though! It definitely looks like we played in yellow that night - before even my time icon_lol.gif

Superb BB -that is just perfect - if you can find a couple more then that would be fantastic, if not then that is still a great help. I have pictures of the programmes from both legs and one which I am 99% sure is of the players coming out at the start of the 2nd leg and I also have pen pics of Docherty and Venables from that season (though not specifically final pictures).

This is the one of the players I am talking about

[spoil]League Cup Final 1st leg at home to Leicester, Chelsea down to ten men, ten minutes to go......

Eddie McCreadie, a left-back filling in at centre-forward, runs the length of the pitch, gets whacked by a defender, but just manages to put the ball past Gordon Banks in the Leicester goal! Eddie celebrates while still on his knees.

Final score, 3-2 to Chelsea![/spoil]

[spoil]3-2 at the Bridge, 0-0 at Filbert Street - and so Terry Venables goes to collect the League Cup and presentation tankards from Joe Richards (President of the Football League)[/spoil]
