clubhappy Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Theres loose talk going around that were capable of winning all 4 domestic trophies next season. If were to believe everything written then J.T. is very confident. My own feelings on it would be a very negative one as i believe its impossible . Last season we went for everything and lost the 2 big ones , ok injuries called the shots there to a large degree , although coming out of it with 2 trophies wasn't all that bad . If we are to win the C.L. I feel something must be pushed to one side and i certainly cant see Jose surrendering the trophy we won 2 years back to back . We came so close to the C.L. last season , missed opportunities cost us and im wondering if we will ever get that close again. I believe we are a stronger unit this season , and with the internal fueding now history [ hate that word ], the signs look good for 07/08 . But that pushes the expectations even higher and the fear of failure could be our downfall , although i hope im wrong.
youlots Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I just want the bloody title back and Liverpool relegated (alright, to be realistic, to not make the top four and hence miss CL action in 08/09). Nothing else but the title really matters to me since all the others are just knock-out comps - have one bad day (apart from the CL Group stages) and you're gone. So IMO their a bonus and great to win but not the real deal.
clubhappy Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 Sorry , but the C.L. is NOT a knockout competition , if you dont believe me , ask any Liverpool fan .
TomP Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I think that it is not only possible, but likely that someone (hopefully us and not ManU) will do the quadruple within the next few seasons. We were a lot closer than a lot of people realize last season. In the end, it came down to three bad results for us, and one good result for United for us to miss out on a real shot at the quadruple. If we had held on for drawn 0-0 away at Liverpool in the champions league, beaten Newcastle instead of that insipid 0-0 draw and changed around the results of that disasterous day where we drew against Bolton after leading at the same time united game from 2 goals down against Everton, then we would have done it if you ask me.
Loud and Proud Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 TBH i don't want Chelsea to win the quadruple and hate when people talk about our chances of winning it. Nothing against you clubhappy but when people even utter that word i shudder. That word is new in the Chelsea dictionary, as it had never been contemplated before. Just think about it for a second. What happens if we do win the 'quad'!? Then what? What have we possibly got to look forward to the following season. Anything less than the 'quad' would be a disappointment. The 'quad', to me, means more media hype, more tourists, higher prices, the white hart to chateau 6, the jolly maltsters to the malt house. I'd be happy with a good f.a cup and champions league run and 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd in th league.
Tea Bar Boy Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 For me 42 points to avoid relegation is enough . Anything on top of that is a bonus ! Be very happy if we win anything .

In 101 years we have won the title 3 times! People like my dad waited 27 years for Chelsea to win something, that was only ten years ago! I NEVER EVER,EVER,EVER thought I would see Chelsea win the league in my life. Im still buzzing off of that!!! Talk of winning all four is greedy and stupid!! Im looking forward to going to different away grounds.... ....Seeing my mates again...... ....Drinking a few..... ....Singing so much that I have no voice on Mondays... And if we win something great... .....but I would rather SUPPORT than EXPECT If it was other clubs fans talking of 'winning all four' I would have thought that was proper arrogant!! Get behind the team and stop wishing your life away!!!

I`ll be happy if we`ll make a breakthrough to CL final and wouldn`t fall off the title chasing during the whole season.
clubhappy Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 The post was a reaction to comments from J.T. . Ok , maybe it was press talk but it still creates a reaction anyway, although not from everybody. I completely understand that talk like this generates pressure , not amongst just players , but fans too . Agree with replies 100%, Loud and proud makes a good case from the fans point of view . Were going to get journos writing pieces like this anyway , the media will pile the pressure on the miniute we start showing any kind of form . Ive always put the Premiership first , the C.L. is classed as the holy Grail by some but for me it's a bonus and nothing else . Sure it would be great to win it , just to say we won it .
Alan Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Winning all four is possible but very unlikely. If we win the league next season then nothing else I'll be over the moon.
Guest Brian M Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 EPL, Champions League and the FA cup would do me...
