The Chelsea hotel

Hi,

It's my dad's 50th this year and I was thinking of treating him to a stay over in the Chelsea hotel on a match weekend. Just curious, and a bit of a long shot - the money (I think £450 for two people?) doesn't include a ticket, right?

Cheers

Nice idea for your Dad. My family booked a 5 star hotel with 270 degree views over Sydney Harbour with the Opera House and Bridge right infont of you for my 50th for half that price, then again where can you view the Shed entrance in Sydney? I thought the Chelsea hotel was obviously great for location but a pretty small, run of the mill room was a down side. Check the stand by rate sites for a much better deal. Can't remember which one I went through but it was heaps cheaper. Hope your Dad has a great time.

Hi blize H

My girlfriend actually got me a match day package for my birthday, she payed something crazy like the 450 quid you quoted but it did include tickets to the Man Utd game.

There is no denying its a great atmosphere before a big game and it did include a 3 course meal at the hotel. However as Jimboola says some of the staff could not understand me when i was asking them for a wake up call actions1.gifactions1.gif

There are also extra little things that i enjoyed for example the free tour of the ground (well im sure 450 quid covers a lot!!)

All in all its a very very enjoyable experiance as we stayed the night before the game and the night of the game and you can feel the atmosphere growing during the day.Im just not sure i would pay the £450 for the privelage. ChElSea2.gifChElSea2.gif

I've stayed in the Chelsea hotel a number of times, but I have no complaints about the rooms: clean, good beds, good bathrooms, big enough. No mini bar, but those things are rip-offs anyway and Sainsbury's and the off-license are nearby. The view wasn't always breathtaking though, unless you count a wall as breathtaking. No complaints about the staff either, but then again I use the alarm in my mobile instead of wake up calls.

On personal experience and living in the area for many years

I would reccomend the "Conrad " at Chelsea Harbour

All the rooms are suites the views are superb the balconies overlook the harbour and the thames and if the sun is shining there is no better place and the service is second to none both at the concierge and the restuarant

There are always famous people staying there so it has a good reputation.

I know there are new owners but have heard no differing opinions since - its now called the wyndham

We used it after our wedding for 2 nights and I think it was £250 a night including breakfast but I am sure you can get deals

Worth a try

I looked at say sat 13th sept 08

River view £239 per room per night

Non river view £189 per room per night

Its at the bottom of Lots road so 10 mins max from the ground
