enders game got a reaction from MKBlue in Our New StadiumIts a moot point tbf, because the new stadium wont be built if CPO now decide they have a whole new set of objections
The last time around they objected to a relocation, if Roman now solves that issue by spending a vast fortune on a new stadium at Stamford Bridge as they asked, but then new objections are made which again means he dosnt get the freehold, we and he might as well give up
CPO will in effect as someone said above, have become what they were set up to guard against

enders game got a reaction from dkw in Our New StadiumI could understand those who didnt want to sell last time when they said they didnt want to see Chelsea leave Stamford Bridge, that was a perfectly valid reason, however if they turn Roman down a second time, especially now Roman is prepared to do what they said they wanted spending hundreds of millions on the Bridge, then i would tend to agree with you
Making up new reasons not to sell every time Roman agrees to previous objections means we just end up a stagnating

enders game got a reaction from Celery1989 in Our New StadiumDont get the problem with naming rights, in fact I hardly ever use the term 'stamford bridge'
Going to a game '- The bridge' - 'at home' - or just plain 'chelsea' is what I and mostly likely most people say
Pedantic I know!

enders game got a reaction from Fast Eddie in Our New StadiumI think Roman would do it right too, his behaviour since he took over the club, tells you it would be more like the way City are doing it than Arsenal re ticket prices at a new bigger/stadium
Given his taste for the dramatic/oligarch mentality Id say any new stadium he did instruct, would have to be better than anyone else's!

enders game got a reaction from Teeblue in Our New StadiumThe most disappointing aspect to all this, is that it may have in fact been us the fans, or rather a minority of them, who were and have been responsible for us missing out on the one suitable, in fantastic alternate site - ie Battersea
Its now clear Roman was in talks with the private owner, who at that time was being threatened with foreclosure by the banks - the refusal to pass on the CPO shares and freehold of Stamford Bridge, left our club in a terrible bargaining position and we lost what could have been the site for the most iconic stadium in world football

enders game got a reaction from Fast Eddie in Our New StadiumThat was the massive problem they faced correct - the fact they made a bid for Battersea within weeks of losing the CPO vote, tells us everything
The rushed nature of the CPO share offer, was due to Chelsea seeing an opening at Battersea where the Irish owner was on the verge of going under
Chelsea could not however tell everyone in the lead up to the CPO vote that it was Battersea we were after, as you do not tell the people who's house you are buying that you must have their house regardless - because the price skyrockets
It did mean however that when Chelsea lost the CPO vote - Chelsea were then negotiating for Battersea without even having the freehold of their own stadium - nightmare all round
