Droy was my hero

This is half correct. The idea that he was ever good enough for a club like Chelsea is a falsehood. He made his name in a Micky Mouse league, at a club that would struggle to compete in League 1. Mikel on the other hand has won us cup final after cup final on his own (see 2012), but is slated by the fans because he doesn't score fancy goals or do flippy tricks.

I was there. What is often forgotten about Droy however is his talent for gliding past the opposition with the ball, as well as his ability to handle himself. I have provided my case. The fact that nobody has named a CB better than Cahill in this thread speaks volumes. Everyone has this preconceived notion in their mind that Cahill isn't good enough, but struggle to come up with names of his superiors. The reason is clear. He is peerless on current form.

They're obvious. Name one defender better than Cahill? Terry? Yes, and especially if he's fit. Luiz? No chance. In the league: Stones? Too fat. Kompany? Can't keep up with the pace in the way that Cahill can. Alderweireld? Can't read the game as well, and not as strong. I could go on forever.

The first half was easily our best half of the season, and we were unlucky to fall behind. However, we fell back into old habits in the second half by not tracking back and covering our two CBs. We could have easily lost by 3 or 4.

The trouble is that Matic was consistently our worst player for his first 18 months. He was consistently outperformed by Mikel; a player with perhaps more skill and finesse than most players at the club, but nonetheless some geniuses online consider surplus to requirements. Mikel for me all day long over Matic, and even Kante. Not quite sure what everyone sees in Kante. He is not half the player Mikel is.

Not only is Cahill the best CB we've had since Terry. He is also quite easily the best CB in the League at the moment.
