The second pivot (Kovacic / Jorginho) provides the option to pass in the middle, and an offensive midfielder (Havertz / Mount) descends and covers the missing space left by the pivot who retreated between the central defenders. As the ball go further, one of them goes to destabilize an area of the pitch and create superiority through his presence, the other one will have more defensive mentality.
