Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*
Grant and Di Matteo had an elite squad of players that were extremely mentally stong as well. Tuchel won the Champions League with Ziyech, Pulisic, Havertz and Werner up front, with our only world class players being a Reece James, an aging Thiago Silva and a half fit Kante. Not to mention Di Matteo parked the bus to win the champions league, and realistically we were very fortunate to beat Barcelona and Bayer. Under Tuchel we went toe to toe with Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Man City and beat them all. Even the season after we only lost to the eventual winners in extra time. I thought the habit of sacking managers so quickly would be over after Roman went, and to be fair in recent years Roman was a lot more lenient. The decision to sack Tuchel 6 games into the season is a disgrace.

This sacking still hasn't sunk in yet. How people think Graham Potter is an upgrade on Thomas Tuchel is beyond me.
-
Line-up under Potter
Yeah that's my point none of them apart from Sterling and possibly Aubameyang (if he isn't past it) are particularly great, people expecting an improvement on the football we had under Tuchel are going to be sorely dissappointed

Line-up under Potter
Line up under Potter: The exact same line up we had under Tuchel Hopefully Potter can turn the likes of Ziyech and Pulisic into world beating 20 goal a season attackers but for some reason I have my doubts

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
After a massive injury crisis. If Liverpool though like us they would have sacked Klopp 2 seasons ago.

Why couldn't we build a long term project with Tuchel though? Do we sack Potter after the first bad patch as well? He hasn't won anything so really he'd get even less leeway than Tuchel

He'll probably need the elder wand to get goals out of Havertz Pulisic and Ziyech

Sticking with Tuchel was the best choice as wasn't anyone better available. At least if we'd waited till Christmas managers like Flick and Enrique might have become available. Poch, Rodgers and Potter all feel like massive downgrades on Tuchel. Out of the lost Poch is probably the best given what he did with Tottenham on 0 budget, I dont think any manager has done well at PSG so hard to judge. Rodgers almost taking Leicester to top 4 is pretty impressive as well. Potter hasn't really achieved anything that warrants the Chelsea job.

One thing that should be mentioned is that Potter's Brighton had the highest net spend of any club outside the top 6 in the 3 years he's been there. Given that, is finishing 15th, 16th and 9th the massive overachievement all the pundits seem to think it is?

Do you only support Chelsea because Christian Pulisic plays for us?
-
Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*
Yeah exactly, if we were cut adrift by Christmas like we were under Lampard then at least the sacking would make some sense, but 6 games in is insane. Liverpool have had a worse start to the season than us yet I highly doubt they'll give Klopp the boot

He's been starting for Tuchel almost every game this season......

To be fair at least there would be a much better crop of managers available in December, like Hansi Flick and Luis Enrique
-
Brendan Rodgers linked
Messi post 30 is massively overrated

If Liverpool are as well run as we are Klopp should be getting the boot any minute now....

Tuchel took Mainz to the Europa League, that's what a world class manager can do. The likes of Klopp and Conte would do similar. Potter hasn't done anything to show he's qualified to manage Chelsea

Yeah this does feel like a non-football related sacking, it would be crazy if Boehly sacked him purely on results. I think not signing Ronaldo might have played a part, as Boehly has been intent on increasing revenue streams for us and making Chelsea a bigger club. And to be fair I'd rather have an ageing Ronaldo than an ageing Aubameyang. Even then this sacking still feels so unjustified, even the media ghouls hadn't started putting pressure on Tuchel yet. Not to mention of you wanted Ronaldo then why sack the manager when the window was closed and we couldn't get him anymore?

15th and 16th isn't above expectations. Nuno was a manager that was also highly rated at the time for his performances with a mid table side, getting Wolves promoted then finishing 7th 7th and 13th, which is better than what Potter's done. Tottenham sacked him in two months. Managing a top 6 club is a completely different task. Potter could be a success but it's a massive gamble, and certainly not a gamble worth sacking Thomas Tuchel over.

A lot harder to play attacking football against 10 men behind the ball every game. Potter's last 3 seasons were 15th, 16th and 9th, so only one season where Brighton have overperformed. How is he any better than Nuno?

Only here for 100 games as well. One of my favourite Chelsea managers ever. Best of luck at your new club 🔵🏆

So we're hiring him based on 2 good runs of form?

Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager
I honestly don't see how he's any better than Nuno. If anything his record in the league is worse. 15th, 16th and 9th, and even last season Brighton were 15th in goals socred, so it's not even like he's an attacking manager. Wish him the best of luck if he comes here but the hype around him is baffling

Even without Haaland they're miles better than us. The only Chelsea players that would start for them are Reece James and Kante who's never even fit anymore. So really just one player. Personally I think Sterling is better than Grealish as well but that's about it. Honestly a miracle we've managed to beat them in several cup competitions

Throwback to Rudiger's farewell message when leaving Chelsea "I hope for this club that the mentality changes of sacking coaches so early when success is not there. I like to trust the process and, with this coach, you can see there is a process. Chelsea can be very proud to have a coach like this.”

3 of the last 4 seasons it has taken over 90 points to win the league (100 in one season). I don't think that's becuase the league suddenly declined, it's just that City and Liverpool are 2 of the best teams in Premier League history. Relative to other European teams Prem clubs are doing far better now in the CL than in 2011, which means the Prem has gotten stronger if anything. Not to mention we've went from a Big 4 back then to a Big 6, along with the mid table Prem teams becoming much stronger. Truth is with or without Tuchel we aren't getting anywhere near the title, it's far harder to win the Prem today. Lukaku looked good until he decided he didn't want to be here. Tuchel didn't sign Havertz who's a generational flop as far as I'm concerned. And Thiago Silva is 37. John Terry was playing for Aston Villia at that age. I hope the new manager does well but I can see us really regretting the Tuchel sacking, there's very few managers out there better
