In particular, I think those skills can help with something we’ve struggled with in recent seasons, which is breaking down a low block. Two things he’s shown so far in his brief start to the seasons are: (1) beating his defender not just for pace, but with technical skills in tight spaces, which is something he can do when not on a break and against a set defense, and (2) making well timed passes into the box, which has already paid off in assists this season. Those are great ways to attack a static defense and it’s been nice to see him use those skills so far. As others have said, it’s really about consistency for Sancho, everyone knows the talent is there, but what he brings specifically seems like a profile we’ve needed for a bit, hopefully he can keep it up.

Cole today is having one of the most incredible performances I’ve ever seen. Yes, of course the goals, but some of his passes have been unreal. Just stunning the watch.

Obviously this is against League 2 competition, but it’s still encouraging to see the players making the right passes, players in the right spots, some level of organization and composure, and other things that have been inconsistent in recent seasons. Hopefully a sign of things to come against more difficult competition.
