Sanchez

Gusto

Fofana

Colwill

Cucurella

Caicedo

Enzo

Palmer

Felix

Neto

Nkunku

I’d play this too. Sancho maybe a little too early to start. Great impact player as of now.

If Gusto not fit than Tosin in. Fofana outside CB.

Need a big performance here. Haven’t won here since our title winning season.

Long time...

For me if you start Neto/Felix you need to start the other. Neto was poor today without Felix.

I think we have to try and come up with a formation that gets ALL our best players into the same XI, and hence I'd try Caicedo as the RB inverting into DM, to allow us to field Lavia/Enzo/Caicedo without removing an attacking player.

So 4-2-3-1

                   Sanchez

Caicedo - Fofana - Colwill - Cucurella

                 Lavia - Fernandez

Palmer               Nkunku           Sancho

                   Jackson or Guiu

And then 3-2-4-1 with Caicedo inverting alongside Lavia at DM and Enzo going forward.

                     Sanchez

       Fofana - Colwill - Cucurella

             Caicedo - Lavia

Palmer - Nkunku - Fernandez - Sancho

                 Jackson or Guiu

Madueke, Neto and Felix as sub options if we need to try something different in attack.

I can make a case for starting either Jackson or Guiu up front. Have a feeling though that Guiu's movement and pressing might work better with the P/N/S attacking midfield ?

The team looks a bit light weight but that's pretty much inevitable with the current squad composition ... plus we could always have Veiga instead of Cucurella I guess ...

Personally, I don't like the idea of shoehorning a player we paid over £100m for into an odd position. Even if he "inverts" he's still going to have to occupy the RB slot when we're not in possession.

I'm honestly not much a fan of the "inverted fullback" as a position/tactic anyway though, so maybe I'm coming at this with some pre-built bias.

It's not ideal for sure, but if Caicedo plays midfield (with Gusto at RB) then who do you leave out ? Lavia ? Nkunku ? Maresca is never going to leave Enzo out if he's fit to play ... I guess you could play Nkunku up front, but then that still leaves Fernandez as the £100m player in the odd position ?

I'd leave Enzo out but not realistic with these owners/this manager.

Tough game away, certainly is not going to be easy to get anything against the 'ammers' regardless of the start to their season.  I hope we learned something from last week's absymal performance regardless of the result...Jackson cannot start, or its going to be another season of Jackson costing us points.

Early in the season but 3 points would be nice, however I'll take a draw of we are going to play this short pass, back and forth sh*te.

Considering the context, probably Lavia. He can be used rotationally as we lack CM depth and will potentially play 60+ games this season.

I do agree though, that Enzo would be the one dropped if things were fair

Guiu has no businesses playing in pl

I personally have no problem playing invert but asking 100m midfielder to play rb is crazy.

Ideally you would drop Jackson, have Nkunku upfront, Enzo roaming, Lavia sitting and Caicedo going box to box like prime Kante.

Although didn't he spend half of a season playing at RB for Brighton with the injuries to Lamptey etc.

We saw that midfield 3 against City and we looked awful in the attacking end.

I'm still an advocate of only 2 of the 3 should play.
