He, like many of Brighton's up and coming talent, was signed and then went on loan to Tony Bloom's Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise. Brighton's policy is to always have at least one replacement coming through in the wings and rarely to let a player go until that replacement is considered good enough or (as was the case with Potter) a replacement from outside is fully researched and available. No illusions that this is easier said then done though, especially as time goes on.
Chelsea's pursuit of Caceido has been relentless for months (even allegedly 'agreeing terms' with him during last season only a few months after he signed a new contract). Brighton did their best to sign Colwill who was dithering over a new contract. I cant see why on earth you would consider holding a grudge or why its OK for Chelsea to pursue a Brighton player but not vice versa?

In all the radio phone ins over the weekend not one Brighton fan mentioned Chelsea in a derogatory way at all, they accept that players will leave, and have left for other PL clubs, one worry for them is that there might come a point where it hurts their form .
Leicester and Saints sold players and ended up relegated,  but there's no good hating Brighton when they seem unconcerned about us.
Hating Spurs is mandatory, and absolutely right !

Anyone else completely disillusioned by these theatrics? I couldn't care less about whether we sign Caicedo after this debacle.
There's nothing more ruinous for football than the sport being transformed into a petty pissing contest for American billionaires, while people addicted to drama slavishly refresh their social media feeds for the next trickle of carefully-crafted gossip.

Oh. I'm used to that when a player wants away, we send them to you and get the GDP of a small African country in return, whereas Lukaku was sent on one year holiday in Italy instead.

It hurt them so much that they probably got an extra 15-20 million out of us compared to last week. Which in itself pays for their replacement more than likely. What's this narrative that Brighton wanted to do this?
 

And yet . Which club keep knocking on their door ?

To be fair, a section of Chelsea 'fans' on twatter etc have been in meltdown for months because little old Brighton wouldn't sell their best player for a discount 'because we are Chelsea'. The level of arrogance and entitlement has been breathtaking but also very funny (and embarrassing I'm sure for many proper Chelsea fans).  Brighton fans are enjoying their moment in the sun absolutely but few have any illusions that it is likely to last forever. 

I think your suffering from paranoia! However, Brighton fans are laughing at Chelsea which is worse than bring hated, so perhaps you're right!
Caceido may still end up at Chelsea rather than liverpool. From Brighton’s perspective this will be decided by who pays the required fee not because one club is liked more than the other

I live on the south coast now , and I can tell you Brighton don't hate us, but they are amused by our endless interest in their " little" club, because after all , it's us who are constantly attracted to them and not the other way round

Every club owner in the English professional and semi-professional leagues spend a lot of money each week to make people have a football team to support. Due to player & agent power, wages are silly and a lot of clubs are under severe threat, pushing ticket prices and TV subscriptions to levels that are often impossible to afford for the average guy.

If anything, clubs (including Brighton) should try to reclaim club power because how it currently works is just not sustainable if you want football to remain a sport of the people. 
f**k the players and f**k the agents. Can't wait for some sort of rule limiting the earnings of footballers and their agents, would be a really good change for everyone involved except for the filthy rich players and their agents.

Brighton have already sold   players to direct rivals.
Liverpool, Arsenal , Newcastle and Chelsea.

What ? The vast majority of teams don't win anything, never have and never will .But their fans are as passionate as the few trophy winning teams.
Supporting a team is not about trophies, it's much much more than that, that's why we have 4 leagues full of teams without a pot between them

We keep on sniffing around their club hoping to buy success for ourselves.
Actually, whoever he is, he's funny and without any nastiness or ridiculous anger and spite.

Bizarre post. Do you really think Brighton care either way about Chelsea? Brighton didn't want to sell unless they got their valuation which was at 'an offer we cant refuse' level. There's no rivalry, its just business. If you want to create one with Brighton on your own then knock yourself out but you really are on your own!

We keep circling around Brighton for staff and players while at the same time slagging them off for getting above themselves !

Thank God it's nearly over, massively overpriced for a player with one good season behind him.
No point in getting upset because Brighton wouldn't sell him to the lowest bidder,  let's forget the pantomime and move on , and for f**k's sake put an end to our infatuation with Brighton or we'll end up being charged with a stalking offence.

All because a massive club like Chelsea couldn't afford to buy  a player from a pub team like Brighton?

Ben White and Dan Burn are both starters in top 4 teams. Trossard went to Arsenal in January and produced one goal and 10 assists in 930 minutes of game time. Yves Bissouma, after a season of injuries and Antonio Conte, has looked Spurs best player in the pre-season.
1. Its not about "goodwill".
2. If it is somehow about Todd Boehly & co being into "goodwill", stop it - this is the Premier League, not a pub league.
What relevancy does that have? Is that why you sold us Alexis Mac Allisters replacement - Billy Gilmour - for £10m? "He's Scottish, must be sh*t".
No one really wants to be with you or anyone, except maybe Barca, Real or City. Everyone is chasing the money and Caicedo and 99% of all footballers won't give a sh*t exactly what club that increases their wages five or tenfold.

All that said, will be interesting to see who you will sign now instead, and I look forward to next summer and the battle for Billy Gilmour.

If agents had their way, contracts would only be one way ie 100% commitment by the club and none from the player. Release clauses are another step in that direction.
It doesn't matter whether you are Chelsea or Brighton, the excessive balance of power in favour of players and their agents is not good for football and even worse for the fans who have to pay ever increasing tickets priced to help pay for ever increasing player wages

Would Chelsea want players to join them and leave the following year for other top teams when they have 4-5 yr contracts? Kudus, Caciedo and other players just want to use Brighton as a  springboard to the PL and fair play to Brighton for not wanting to tolerate this. They are trying to  build a top team to compete for trophies and Europe and cant afford to let their good players leave after a year or two. very unstable for the club.

tell him i have compromising pictures of him and he better sell Caicedo for 60 million pounds + an apology

Fair comment,  but my point is that Brighton will only sell Caceido if they have a suitable replacement guaranteed (and they get their valuation which i suggest is based on a ‘crazy offer too good to refuse’). They don't want to sell and don't have to sell. As always we are talking about rumours, but if Kudos is the player Brighton see as the replacement then they will not sell Caceido if Chelsea sign Kudos.
