  1. City fans that I know never hated Chelsea, infact most had a liking for them. Keeping the Rags out of the reach of trophy's, however it is attained, will do that. Saying "pretty much every City fan...." is a tad unfair lol. There are hypocrites everywhere, and I'm not gonna suggest that City are immune in that respect, but most have their head screwed on. Other than that, football is all about banter  PS. The tabloids routinely linking us to the likes of Buffon, Kaka, Aguero, A. Cole etc does give alot of people, mainly the youngsters, an attitude that we can buy anyone. Imo, we may buy 1 "superstar", in Jan, but most will be of very good quality such as the likes of Diarra etc.
  2. Funny you should say that. Rumours up here (Manchester) are very strong that we will be putting in a bid for Drogba. It would be a fantastic signing for us and just what we need, but it wont happen if Inter go in for him, or if Roman is still seething over us nicking Robinho from his clutches.
  3. There are no wounds, kiddo. I didnt expect us to win today. I was hoping for a draw. We lost. It aint the end of the world. We are 5 years behind you, but it wont take 5 years to get up to your standard, and maybe even surpass you :)
  4. Lol, kinda wish I was that old, then I would have seen some successful City teams!!! 28, old enough to have had a season ticket before the Prem began, young enough to have seen a hell of alot of utter sh*te in a City shirt! :) Hopefully I'll get to see us lifting some trophies in the coming years. Hell, if we don't manage it now, we NEVER will!
  5. Thought Lampard was your best player, followed by A.Cole. Never even noticed Malouda was on the pitch until he got subbed. I actually thought he was the player coming on when his name was mentioned, cos I honestly didn't notice him beforehand. Cant believe he actually plays for you lot still. Always the worst player whenever I see you play.
  6. Laws?!? , I thought football just a general set of loose rules. More guidelines than anything, or atleast that is how it seems :) I much preferred it when it was more common sense, than ridiculous -to-the-letter laws. Common sense would suggest 2 against 1 , infront of the GK, is a goal scoring chance and a sending off especially as it was a pre-meditated rugby-esque tackle.
  7. lol. Robonho got booked once for doin too many stepovers haha and cheers, I may not have come back if you had stole the match ;) , but you deserved the 3-1 win.
  8. I mentioned the Anelka penalty and red card in my thread. However, that was before I saw it on MOTD. Richards hardly touched him. Would have been harsh, but in todays game you get pens for those sorts of non-challenges, seen em given. After seeing MOTD I reckon it was a red card, for reasons already stated. You'll get it rescinded tho, even tho Jo would have just passed it to Robinho for him to bamboozle Cech with his skills, round him and tap it in ;)
  9. Terry's red card was abit harsh, but it was a cynical, pre-meditated foul. Yea Carvalho was there, but so was Robinho. It was a, 2x1, goalscoring opportunity. Right decision. JUST.
  10. Signed up a week or 2 ago to discuss the numerous events surrounding both our teams, us nipping in for Robinho , SWP and the game. Didnt want to leave you lot (until we play again) without saying well done. Chelsea were excellent today. Certainly the best I have seen you play for a long time. Your passing was crisp, but it was the movement off the ball, particularly in midfield, that really stood out. It was a decent game of football. I thought it was quite even first half, with us (City) playing pretty well. 2nd half Chelsea were the better side by quite a margin, tho we actually had more chances in the 2nd half than we did in the 1st. Ball, Ireland and SWP should have scored and Sturridge went close. Infact now that I think of it, you had more chances in the 1st half than the 2nd. I remember 1 very close headed effort of yours in the 2nd, tho of course you scored 2 aswell. I was impressed with Lampard. I made an effort of watching him quite a bit, esp in the 2nd half (as I was sat in the the half Chelsea were attacking). He sneaks into such dangerous positions I nearly lost my voice from shouting at our players to mark him! . I dunno what it is that makes him such a special player for CHelsea, but an ordinary player for England, but I suppose you lot dont care too much - I wouldnt. I was pleased with Robinho. 3 games in a week and a last minute flight over here to play, but still looked class and always dangerous ( running on adrenaline no doubt). Lovin his goal. The roof nearly exploded lol. I have no hesitation in saying he will be a major success in the prem. City legend in the waiting. The other debutant, Zabaleta was pretty poor TBH, tho it was his first game. He'll need time to adjust. Thought the ref was crap today - for both teams. I thought the red card was correct - tho I have only seen it once, at the game ..... but I thought you had a shout for a pen when Anelka went down from what looked like a push from Richards. Yea, so, anyway, well done. Thought you were excellent today and I cant see any reason why you shouldnt win the league. Utd may have more striking options, but the rest of your team looks so powerful, and there is no better striker in the Prem than an on form Drogba. Think we missed Petrov and Johnson today, but thats no excuse. You are a better team than us at the moment. Good luck for the season. Hope you win the Prem.
  11. About 100mill since the start of last season. I could take it from any other team other, but not yourselves :D
  12. Was a joke, mate. I guess I should have made it abit clearer :D
  13. Where have I said that Robinho would get us into 4th? All I have said is that if we can be within touching distance of 4th place by January (like we were last season before we faded away away - something we hav done for the past 2 seasons , with Hughes remarking how unfit our squad was when he 1st arrived) then we could add a few class players and make a push for 4th in the 2nd half of the league. I felt we were aiming for top 6 - maybe even battling it out for 5th with VIlla - before the Arab takeover. We have a decent team, whether you choose to dismiss that or not is your choice. Ball, yea, he's not good enough, but Joe Hart is a very very good young keeper. England's no.1 in the future, you'll see.
  14. This is from a man that turned down offers in Europe to go play in the US. You'll like what your own manager, Big Phil thinks of Pele: Link: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/03092008/58/...ftershocks.html He is nothing compared to Maradona anyway.
  15. In that article posted above by someone, it said that he basically won Real the title in 2007 ;) Our defense is one of the best outside of the top 4. Ball/LB is the weak point. But Hart would get in at Arsenal and Micah would get in all of the 1st teams , possibly bar yourselves, at the moment. Dunne would get in most sides outside the top 4. Dunne and Ball will probably(Ball definitely) be replaced in Jan or the summer. Dunne is a brilliant old fashioned defender, but he hasnt the composure or skill to push us further, like Ferdinand , Toure, Carvalho have. If we can stay close to 4th spot until Jan (like last season) we may be able to buy a couple of good players to help push us into 4th. The extra fitness training Hughes put the players through should help aswell - seeing how the last 2 seasons we have fallen away(badly) ... Hughes remarked at how unfit we were when he first arrived. If you end up being right, there will always be next season. Which was always gonna be the true start to this new City anyway.
  16. I couldn't tell you. But in every interview I have seen from Alf, he has made it clear that he will get the players if Hughes wants them. Your guess is as good as mine, but I can't see Hughes staying around if he doesnt feel in control. Corluka was sold cos he handed in a transfer request after the Thai's sent him down to Spurs for a medical. Hughes blew his top and called him back up. Damage was done tho. He brought in Zabaleta last week to replace Corluka. Corluka obviously liked what he heard down at Spurs (not forgetting his best mate is Modric also) He's a talented player. Very calm on the ball. Bit slow tho. By all accounts Zabaleta is a better player and he cost us less. I wish Corluka well. SWP is/was consistent at City... You'll see Robinho played in his preferred position behind the striker most of the time (on the left when Petrov is injured/banned)
  17. 1st interview with Robinho, if you're interested: http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/footba...d.html?ITO=1490
  18. If Robinho is one of those players that needs to feel loved to perform at his best, then he has come to the right place. He will be absolutely adored by us and encouraged to take people on in the same we we did/do with SWP - who is another player who needs to feel wanted I reckon. Real fans have a massive ego(which is understandable considering their history). They have literally no patience at all. City fans are completely different. Those of us under 30-35 have seen no success whatsoever, so will be more grateful of Robinho's talent. It isnt a formality that he will take the Prem by storm, he will need time no doubt, but I am confident he has what it takes to be a , dare I say, massive success.
  19. Tried to Edit my post but couldn't for some reason, so.... There are a few others coming through the ranks ATM. Vladimir Weiss , a skillful right winger, looks an extremely exciting prospect. Hopefully the new SWP - who I totally forgot is another academy player lol! - I reckon SWP will keep his place. He loves it here and Hughes will have to have some extremely large balls to try and drop him considering the love SWP has from the fans. Oh and all this talk of C.Ronaldo, Messi , Torres, Fabregas, 18 new 30m players comin in, is just "cock-boasting" by the owners. I think we will buy steadily. Hughes has a good head on his shoulders.
  20. - I can honestly tell you that I am happy we got Robinho instead of Berbatov. Yes, the glory of doing one over on old sourface(is he gonna get done or what for kidnapping Berba???), but that would have run out after a while. We had enough of Anelka at City , Berba is in the same mould. Lazy, moody but brilliant on his day. He's also nearly 28. Hughes has done well so far in his transfer dealings in buying young quality players - Pretty certain we have had the youngest team out in 2/3 of the opening games - Arsenal are in a similar boat. You may disagree, but I see Robinho being suited to the Prem. He has pace to burn and his skills are on par- if nor better than, Ronaldo's. He is slight, but that doesnt hinder other players - SWP and your very own Zola spring to mind. And its not like the poorer teams in La Liga tried to play Real off the park. At 23 , he can improve and hopefully become the player he wants to become - the best in the world - he certainly has the potential. And this brings me to my hope for City's future. I hope we continue to buy the under 25 year old top class players here and build a stable team. You are correct about an English core, and with our academy I think - HOPE - we do the same. Joe Hart, Micah Richards will keep their place for years to come , along with Danny Sturridge - who I have no doubt will be Englands future no.9 .... I really hope he doesnt get lost in the madness. If Michael Johnson gets his head down and continues to improve there is no reason why he cant be our Lampard/Gerrard. I hope he gets the time he needs. Onuoha I think will end up a squad player or sold - as will Ireland , both very good footballers on their day who I hope stay, but I doubt will. It will be a re-shuffling process, with some of our top players - like Elano and possibly even Petrov (who, imo, is the best left winger in Britain) suddenly becoming squad players. In a way I am very glad the Window has closed. If we had brought in 6 new "superstars" I would find it hard to relate to my own team - the team I have followed since before I could even speak . The 4 monthes or so before the Jan transfer window will allow us to take stock and get used to the situation. About Alf (al Fahim) getting bumped off. That's funny. I am more worried about some Utd fan in our "Counter-'Terrorism'" agency from draggin him off to some foreign torture chamber never to be seen again as a ,suddenly, suspected "terrorist" :D I reckon Liverpool are in a serious predicament once we get our skates on. Which will be fun as one of my mates is a ScouseRed. As for other posts sayin I am as bad as the scousers for talkin about Chelsea's history - I did say it was exactly the same for us. Both our histories are similar. The rest is just abit of friendly banter
  21. "goryhunting muppet" , na mate, (tho watchin us get beat by York 2-1 10 years ago was "gory").. just stickin up for my team after you dismiss us from doing exactly what you have done. I'll be around a day or 2 after the game, win, lose or draw. Im a City supporter afterall (besides, no offense, but Im havin too much of a laugh snoopin around here. The title of this thread is comedy gold, alone :D )
  22. Somethin that makes me laugh is this Times article:
  23. How will we get World class players? by buying them... like you did. Kaka? there are more players in the world than Kaka. Anyway, he wont have a choice to play for Chelsea if we offer more to Milan than you. BTW, give it a rest with "Abu Dhabi United". Do you not see what a joke you look like? As for comparing our owners. Who gives a crap who knows more about football. If Roman is such a football guru, call for him to be manager... Mark Hughes is a top top manager. Even if he doesnt get enough time, or fails, of course we'd get a top manager in. Our owners literally make Roman look like Oliver Twist. If England can get Cappello, we can get the likes of Mourinho, Guus Hiddink etc. The likes of Robinho, Aguero, Villa, Torres, Gattuso, Drogba etc are world class. C.Ronaldo? I dont want him, so I am glad we wont get him. Messi and Kaka would be great, but we wont get those players for a couple of years yet - if we ever do. I reckon Liverpool are for the taking this year or next. The "Abu Dhabi boys" are here for the glory. They will spend big - very big(peanuts for them) to ensure it. They are the real deal. Id worry more about Roman doing one if/when we overtake you, looking at your humongous debt. Here's hoping they have less of a say in team affairs then Roman ....afterall you have done ok so far havent you?
