Gave it to Ricky. Great goal proving a point after the tackle for that iffy free kick, solid in defence and at least one brilliant block.

Very close between Lampard and Carvalho...just gave it to Frank for a special goal

Deco - he was the puppet-master today - he's not going to get that much space all the time, but he does it's f**king fantastic to watch

I have to echo Lofty's comments. However, Bosingwa, J. Cole, A. Cole, Franky, Deco, and even Malouda were brilliant out there.

Deco was good but faded last 20 and spoilt it by the lazy ball which resulted in JT getting a red.

Ashley was good today and Ricci was too - other than the lunge for the free kick. But Lamps is MOTM for me. Great display and great goal.

Went for Carv. Unlucky to give away that free kick, scored a great goal and got in several crucial interceptions and blocks. Wouldn't argue with Lamps getting it though.

How about we give Mark Hasley an award for being completely incompetent once again.

Had full view of Richards shove on Anelka for which didn't have balls to give blatant penalty.

Then Terry, yes rugby tackle foul but with Belletti adjacent to him and Carvalho infront of Jo no way Terry last defender, esp on halfway line for his straight red. Be interesting to see what appeal to FA says unlikely they revert card to a yellow though.

Deco and Lampard were amazing today.

But MOTM for me had to be Ashley Cole, purely for those amazing piss-take step overs at the end, lmao ;)

went for lamps, but it was between him, deco, percy, mikel and a cole. in fact, no-one had a bad game (im ignoring malouda, he didnt play as far as im concerned. useless sod)

This was a tough one. I thought Ashley was brilliant today, and indeed so many of the lads had full commitment. I would give it to Frank in my heart but using my head I have to go with Riccy. Tremendous goal and that block had me offering him anything he wanted!

All in all, a good performance. City's honeymoon period hasn't lasted long. Perhaps just as long as that free kick from The Mercenary.

I live twenty minutes from Middle Eastlands and I am now wearing a grin from ear to ear!

@dkw; Malouda was good today, and far from useless.

not for me he wasnt. he did nothing constructive, and lost the ball most of the time. i honestly cant remember a single good thing he did, other than the header against the bar.

I agree. Other than marvelling at the fact that Anelka scored, I spent most of the match screaming at Malouda for squandering ball after ball.

I thought Ashley Cole was pretty good, he got forward, and defended well as well. Cech had a pretty good game too, seeing as he didn't really have a chance with the deflected free kick.

Gave it to Riccy just but a great performance from Frank and every player, What a spirited and strong performace and it goes to show that when it comes to teams sticking together there is no one like THE CHELS

KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH

COME ON CHELS COME ON HAVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

although ricky gave away the free kick for robinho, he saved us so many times. But high praise for ashely cole, he played really well and is continuing that. And Frank created many opportunities and nice passes, so all around good performance but riccy just grabs it for me.

btw great picture Gem!

I listened to the BBC 5 Live commentary and the phone-in after, and got the impression that young Obi was immaculate in the holding role. How good was he?

I thought he played a very disciplined game today - well, the chop on SWP apart, for which he got carded. Couldn't really fault him. He had a 'Makelele' sort of game, keeping calm for the most part in front of the back four and doing just what was required of him. Had decent distribution too. All in all, a damned good game from John Obi.
