  1. Three or four changes, max. Keep the momentum going. I don't see why Giroud can't start this one. It's not like he's played many minutes this season. Ampadu in the Jorgihno role, Willian for Eden, Christensen for Luiz. That's all the changes I want to see.
  2. Both goals on here. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/
  3. 3-5-2 it is then, according to Radio 5.
  4. Hello Valerie. I've been here just not posting. I've been a member for 10 years now.
  5. http://talksport.com/radioplayer/live/talksport2.html?popup=1
  6. Decent commentary with Ray Wilkins on TalkSport 2 if anyone's lacking a stream.
  7. I think Mata's goal and that back-heel have clouded people's judgement a tad. He made loads of ineffectual attempts to break up play in midfield and just looked weak to me. Terrific goal but I thought Willian was far and away the best player on the pitch and it was a joke to give Mata MOTM.
  8. Lukaku is raw and best as an impact player. Schurrle is top class and has a great Teutonic work ethic, plus he's largely an unknown quantity to Ferdinand and co. I trust Jose's decision.
  9. I live in the Yorkshire Dales, 20 miles from Leeds. The city is packed every night with students from its two universities. Unless you're wearing your colours I don't think Leeds fans would be able to spot you. The pubs around the train station are a bit of a no-go on match days for away fans but the rest of the town centre is packed with safe, trendy bars (most with doormen). I've watched a couple of Chelsea matches in Leeds pubs with mates from the area and had no bother at all. But, like any city, it can get hairy at chucking out time.
  10. Good post, mate. I used to get just as much pleasure watching the Chelsea that featured my personal favourites of Stanley, Harris, Hay, Britton, Locke and Walker. I think I've never been more ecstatic than when we beat Liverpool 4-2 in the FA cup in the 77/78 season, everyone said it was a fluke but we went on to beat them 3-1 in the league (this may be false memory syndrome but it's my memory and I'm keeping it!)
  11. Ron Harris for me. I guess your answer to this question will largely be dictated by your age. At 51, I grew up in the Harris, Osgood, Hutch, Cooke era and Chopper will always represent Chelsea for me. In his latter years he showed a lot more class than people give him credit for, using his brain more than his studs.
  12. Can someone please explain to me where the much-vaunted leadership qualities of our senior players are? It seems to me that it’s a heresy to mention that JT’s ability to foster some sort of esprit de corps in the side is long gone. Icy glares at younger players and rants at refs are not enough. Against Liverpool we committed the unpardonable crime of largely lacking passion (Romeu, Luiz and Bertrand being honourable exceptions). On the touchline we have AVB hopping about like a deranged spacehopper and Di Matteo sinking deeper and deeper beneath the collar of his tracksuit. One day I fully expect AVB to check on him, only to find there’s no one in there. Lamps has become more lateral in his passing than Ray “The Crab†Wilkins but, sadly, not in his creative thinking. Hardly the sort of example he should be setting his young mentees. My solution? Give Luiz the captaincy!
  13. Now that Yuri's departed, it seems that either Ryan Bertrand or Patrick Van Aanholt will be understudy to Ashley. Does anyone have a preference? I thought Ryan did very well for the England U-21s. He showed plenty of discipline and a nice turn of pace when needed. PVA seems even quicker and more attack minded, and can also play at CB apparently. In an ideal world we'll keep both in the squad but I suspect one will go on loan until at least xmas.
  14. Already the commentator's complaining about the lack of youth coming through the Chelsea ranks and enthusing about the way that Man Utd always bring theirs through. Who exactly is he thinking about? Scholes, Becks, Giggs? Certainly not Gibson!
  15. If Romeu decides to stay with us after two years, perhaps he can buy himself out of the Barca contract, using pocket money from Roman. I can't see why they would insist on an unhappy player returning.
  16. Remember Brian M? I know he fell out with Loz and many others but I've kept in touch with him. He dropped in to see me a fortnight ago, all the way from Oz (I currently live in the Yorshire Dales, although I'm originally from Notting Hill). First time we've met and he proved to be a splendid chap! :-)
  17. I was impressed with young Ryan's defensive discipline during the U-21 games. He was as much an integral part of a pretty solid defence as media darlings, Smalling and Jones, were. Also has sufficient pace to get himself out of trouble if need be. Not as blisteringly fast and attack minded as PVA but more solid defensively.
  18. I've seen it advertised online in the past. Try this link http://footballmatchesdvd.3dcartstores.com/1998-Cup-Winners-Cup--Chelsea-vs-Stuttgart--Final-Match_p_432.html
  19. :D Why don't you just poke Abramovich with a pointy stick? Lol!
