Anyone else got that feeling that something is going to come out of nowhere, ala Torres, AVB and Di Matteo returning?

I reckon we've got a few things up our sleeves, and as you know, we tend to do things a bit

more on the quiet these days.

Something is going to come out of nowhere.

Something is going to come out of nowhere.

In one respect is that possible? The papers have linked us with pretty much every player in the professional game! No matter what happens there will be a hack shouting “you read it here first!â€

Personally I think that due to the inflated price situation most transfer activity will happen late in the window when the likes of Spurs and Udinese have to face up to getting a bit less than they hoped or retaining disgruntled players.

AVB said that he wanted to evaluate the squad in training before making any signings which is a very wise strategy and reinforces the faith that we've given him control over who he signs. The players only came back to training today and we have that behind closed doors match soon so he'll make final decisions after that. I'm happy to wait and let him make the right decisions on what we actually need to fulfil his vision for our squad rather than rush into the market and buy a load of flops based on reputation.

Sky is saying that Modric is going to flat out tell Levy that he wants to go to Chelsea today so we'll see how that transpires as well.

We had a very exciting January window to be fair.

Exactly. It makes me cringe to see people moaning about a lack of signings in other threads.

We are the luckiest fans in the world.

I don't think anything major is cooking right now. We'll probably have to wait a couple of weeks at the earliest until AVB decides on who needs to come and who needs to go.

Problem with that is ll our targets would have gone

Anyone can clearly see we lack a creative CM and wingers

I seriously hope avb sees this as well. We need another fast duff/robben combo. It irritates me that chelsea have moved away from this setup, considering we were equal to barcelona, if not better and premier leauge was easy.

Can't wait for AVB to do too much evaluating. Have to have targets lined up and acquisitions strategies clearly outlined.

We do need someone. Last year it was Ramires, a quality signing, and a clean out.

This year we clearly need a new way to score goals, whether from a Lampard replacement/addition or a creative winger or whatever.

Looks like players are getting back from holidays so they can sort out their existing relationship with clubls. Modric is a good example.

After hearing Essien might be out for a long time I need to hear some good news. Hope we have a name or 2 next week. Also interesting to see who are out..maybe the BIG thing is that we are selling someone important..?

We need to emulate real madrid and man utd's approach to buying players. They identify their targets quickly and don't waste time in signing them. The season starts in 36 days and we are yet to make any significant signing.

Am I the only one whose starting to get a little worried we're going to do nothing of significance this window? We take far too long to get players in, we should have them in ASAP the way united & madrid as someone else mentioned, so they can get to know the squad and gel as a team. If we don't bring anyone in we may well have another average season like last year.

I'd be fairly confident even if we don't sign anybody that we can win the league. As of right now, it looks like all our rivals(starting xi) will be weakened over the summer. This is assuming that united are not planning to splash another 30 odd million and City don't manage to keep hold of Tevez.

Champions league is a different story though.

I don't feel much at all to be honest. My excitement always picks up right before the season, and right at the end of the transfter window.

To be honest, the winter window took me entirely by surprise. I assumed it would just be rumours and no action, then we spend 75million. I don't know whether to expect a lot from this window, or go back to thinking that ultimately no rumoured signings would come off.

But for the mean time, there's nothing concrete that I can see, apart from the first Modric bid. Everything else is probably crap.

Perhaps I have not been paying enough attention, but has any club made any significant signing? The only ones that could remotely be qualified as such (and only when you're under the influence of various pharmaceuticals) are Ashley Young and Gael Clichy. And John Arne Riise to Fulham of course, which made me confident of at least 6 points this season :)

The dippers have signed about £50m of averageness so far, and counting. Utd have made one good signing in Jones and one gamble in De Gae (the gayer.... :laugh2: ). Madrid have signed a load of midfielder on the cheap (good ones though) and we have had a new manager at the club for a week or so.

A new manager, no really?

I thought we were talking players. Amart mentioned we haven't made any significant signing, but there hasn't been any, it's not just us. No moves from big impact, big name players.

Oi, don't you bugger me ;) If you need to bugger so much, bugger Amart! Tsssss.....

Anyway, we sold Jack Cork, didn't we? If that isn't the height of transfer frenzy, directed by our new star manager, I don't know what is.

:laugh2:

I think the only team that could be seriously weakend is arsenal if they loose all the rumoured players. City will probably buy a top striker if they loose tevez (eto or augero). Im not confident at all that our current midfield without essien can win us the leauge.
