Now that Yuri's departed, it seems that either Ryan Bertrand or Patrick Van Aanholt will be understudy to Ashley. Does anyone have a preference?

I thought Ryan did very well for the England U-21s. He showed plenty of discipline and a nice turn of pace when needed. PVA seems even quicker and more attack minded, and can also play at CB apparently. In an ideal world we'll keep both in the squad but I suspect one will go on loan until at least xmas.

IMO they are both too good to be playing in the Championship & unless we can loan them to a Premier League team for regular footie, we are better off playing one as backup to A. Cole & the other backup to the left wing /{sell one of Bosingwa/Ferreira & keep the other as cover}. In the long run playing one further up on the left or backup RB will be beneficial.

I've been completely unimpressed with what I've seen of Van Aahholt so far. Bertrand looks almost ready to start, though; would feel happier bringing him on if Ash had to go off for some reason than being stuck with PVA.

Hard to tell, as neither have played much in the Prem. But PvA worries me as a defender. For that reason I'd opt for Bertrand. Interesting that neither was in the squad for Rangers and Ashley Cole played the entire match. Seems a bit early to make Cole play 90, especially since he's likely to play Wednesday for England.

I think PVA is more attack minded than Bertrand. Its tough because both deserve a shot. I think if Bertrand goes out on loan again then it could possibly be the end of him at Chelsea. He must be getting fed up of just being sent on loan every season.

Can PVA possibly be groomed to become our own Gareth Bale ?

He has pace , skill ful , can cross , shoot , beat players and I believe he will make a very good forward player !
