I am pretty sure that Charlton one was the only penalty he had missed since joining Chelsea prior to the Hungary one. I am sure someone will be able to dig out the stats but I would reckon he has taken somewhere in the region of 15-20 for us so this means he has missed 2 in about say 17 for Chelsea and then 2 for England (not sure how many he has taken for England) That, for now, is good enough for me to say he should keep taking them. Obviously if he was to continue missing reasonably regularly then it may need rethinking however any change of taker at the moment would, in my opinion, be an error.

I think we will - we have been paying over the odds for players for three years now and I don't think that is going to suddenly end. He has been our number one target all summer and has been a target for some time. Just now we are operating with one left back and a player who will probably never play for us again. Therefore we have a space in the squad, a target that Jose is very keen on, and an owner to whom a couple of extra million is the equivalent to one of us paying 20p for a 16p mix!

Not sure what you mean by 'transfer points carried over' Basically you can make transfers every week up until the deadline for that particular week (see the link in the post a few up). If you make a transfer after the deadline then it doesn't come into play until after that week's games are over (i.e. you can't make a transfer on a Saturday night and then gian points from the Sunday fixture) One transfer a week is free, any more than that cost you points. What else do you need to know?

That wouldn't be that big a surprise - he has got somewhere in the region of 15 or so in the last two seasons however the fact that Boro will have Southgate in charge makes it a bit of an unknown as we don't know how they are going to play.

I don't think Sheva will be near the top in terms of number of goals scored. My reasons for this are that I expect him to be rotated more than the likes of Henry will be and also I expect us to stick to a playing style which sees the burden of responsibility for scoring shared between the strikers and the midfielders. If at the end of the season people are saying Sheva has under achieved becasue he only scored 15 goals then point toward Arsenal and ask them which Arsenal midfielder got anywhere near the number of goals that Lampard and Ballack scored.

I think it is the right choice but not for reasons of ability and form. I think Beckham would still be a valuable part of the squad. My reasons for saying yes is that qualifying for Euro 2008 should be a reasonably straight forward task for England with or without Beckham and by the time the tournament is upon us I am not convinced Beckham would be first team material (although only 33 which isn't really that old) By then I would like to think that players such as Lennon and Sweep would have matured and developed sufficiently to play on the right wing, or that McLaren hos gone down the route of playing someone like Gerrard on the right. Hence I would prefer to see the next two years spent developing this approach rather than spending the time bringing Beckham in and out of the team and thus missing an opportunity.

I didn't think that was a good effort by Kalou, I thought it was a bad miss. For now I will put it down to lack of match sharpness but make no mistake he needs to be tucking chances like that away once the season is underway.

I will eat the hat of Tambling's choice if that happens!
