  1. Just to make some of you bounce around on your chairs again there are more stories coming out of Brazil that Tevez may be on the move sooner rather than later.

  3. Isn't it just! And he had an attitude when he was first choice and scoring goals for fun - just imagine how much of a bloody pain he will be when he is spending the vast majority of his time scoring goals on training pitches and swapping recipe's with Kalou on the bench! Well there appears to be a few free scoring kids in Pauly's u16 league, he lost his next game 11-0 Off the top of my head there is none however I think we need to get away from this idea that we can keep happy three strikers who would all be first team players in other top teams when we will often only play with one up front. Just now we have two recognised centre forwards (Drogba is recognised, he was out at Tesco's last night and they wouldn't let him park in the disabled spot, he has been busted for fraudulently using a blue badge), a young striker in Kalou and an up and coming talent in Sinclair. Maybe this is the time to take the chance and give the two younger kids a chance as and when the opportunity arises.
  4. Sign Anelka!!! Is this on the premise that we do sell Gallas and that no team is allowed to enter a football tournament unless it has at least one cantankerous sod!! I'd rather sign Ashley Cole than Nicolas Anelka and I would rather allow Mini Loz to play for Roberto's Dad's U8 team than see us sign Ashley Cole. Pauly - any space in the U16 team for G4 - he is a large lad, immobile, and thinks the sweeper formation refers to his part time job in Burger King - an improvement for your defence I'm sure you will agree!
  5. Definitely Ruud for me - when you take out the players that come through the juniors he didn't really make a single costly mistake. Lambourde for ?1.5m was probably the nearest however even he was a useful squad player at the time.
  6. OK this makes it a better poll as you can see what you are judging managers on - you must also bear in mind the different amounts of money available to each manager and the respective status of the club at the time they weer in charge. 7. Does anybody know of a website somewhere that shows the players that each manager bought?
  8. Paul has kindly agreed to maintain the old BPL form on the main CSR site and he has populated the 'Chelsea Versus' list with all the teams for the coming season including the pr-season ones. So start thinking about the MLS All Stars! NOTE: - The first game that will count toward the league is the charity shield one against Liverpool - treat the pre-season friendlies as a chance to test the system (especially anyone who has not done it before) Cheers Loz, Butch, Mod and Gem

It has been? All I saw was someone deciding to build an 80,000 capacity stadium purely on the back of two season's of success and with no consideration of whether we would actually fill it or sustain our success. Were you involved in the Millenium DOme as well? p.s. No is still winning - long live dewy eyed sentiment
  10. loz replied to a post in a topic in General Chelsea FC
How about we place a twist on this and ask a different question. If we were to move stadiums AND this meant we had to surrender the Chelsea Football Club Name AND some dissident fans decided to keep the Chelsea name alive much the same way as AFC Wimbledon have by creating a team that plays in non-league football under the name of Chelsea FOotball Club which team would you support? Chelsea Football Club in the non league or Earls Court FC at the top of the Premiership? (I accept this is a slightly daft question as there are too many ANDs, IFs and BUTs that can be thrown into the equation. Personally I would have no hesitation in supporting CHelsea Football CLub in non league football.

Why might I just as well say that when I have already said quite clearly it isn't that. Although I am referring to the ground itself (which, for me, is far more than 'real estate') I am referring to the location as well. When I go to the games I get off at Fulham Broadway, I turn left, I start to walk, I stop off at a pub or two, have a beer or six, etc etc - it actually means something to me that I am doing the same thing, on the same street as millions of Chelsea fans before me. Maybe it is 'syrupy and sentimental' but 'syrupy and sentimental' is what often makes things into something to cherish rather than an organisation with real estate. No we don't. Moving stadiums is still not the norm in football, it is the exception. Why do we have to move eventually? Because we are successful now? More popular now? We have been this way for a mere two seasons, that is a fraction of the lifespan of the club. Making strategic decisions based on two years of data is folly of the highest order. To be honest if Roman wanted to buy a 80,000 capacity stadium to move his toy into I would rather he found a new toy and left this one alone.

No I would rather we stayed at the Bridge with its current capacity forever than move to a new location irrrespective of what benefits that new location had to offer. In football players, fans, manager's, programme sellers etc come and go, they move on, retire, lose interest, die etc. The only thing that remains constant is the ground and its location. Move from that and we have surrender our link to the Chelsea we support. The Chelsea we have all watched, some of our fathers have watched and some of our grand athers have watched. Move grounds and we may as well change our name (which last I heard we would still have to anyway).

No I am arguing that if a player wants to move clubs the first people he should be speaking to are his own club. The player can go nowhere without the club's agreement to sell and hence by entering into discussions with a buyer before agreeing the possibility with your own club is simply putting the cart before the horse The route you are advocating is the one used by players to manipulate a transfer. They cause so much ill feeling with their current club that the club is in a position where they feel they have to sell as keeping the player is now pointless. As I sad before these rules are in place to protect the game and ultimately the game is what is important as it is the very infrastructure that supports these players and provides them with their livelihoods. If a player cannot see that and decides to take legal action which will render these rules unenforcable then they are either very stupid or very greedy. If you are suggesting that the First Amendment is a legally binding principle that covers all aspects of life then your eyes are wide shut! For a start it is only a piece of US legislation!

I voted ?No? ? I don?t buy into this idea of blanket rules for any type of industry whether it be highly paid footballers or low paid machinists. Without rules and regulations to place reasonable constraints upon players, football would become too unstable for many clubs to be able to make any kind of medium to long term planning. This can only have a negative impact on the vast majority of clubs and have a positive impact on the elite few. Such a situation is unhealthy for the game and don?t forget it is the game that provides these players with the lucrative lifestyle. By pushing to destabilise it they are biting off the hand that feeds them. Players are not the same as employees in other business ? BA doesn?t pay British Midlands ?12m to sign their Head of Marketing. Clubs deserve a degree of protection from assets they have forked out big money for being able to sneak off and negotiate a better deal elsewhere. OK you can argue that the owning club can simply refuse to sell as they are contractually able to however we all know that this doesn?t happen in reality. On the flip side, if a player is not pulling their weight, performing well below par then I'm sure they are fairly happy with the fact that, unless they break disciplinary codes, they cannot be sacked/made redundant. The same can't be said for other jobs. This is just two differences between the footballers life and 'other' working life. There are many many more. If a footballer doesn't like the rules he has to abide by then I suggest he looks for work in another field. Signing your large contract whilst knowing the rules and then moaning about them later carries little weight with me.
  15. Barring injuries I expect it to be Henry again. Henry is Arsenal's focal point and the team is built around the idea of creating chances for Henry. I expect our goals to, as in the past seasons, be shared around more and I also expect there to be more rotation in our front line and hence Sheva will not get as many games as Henry.

We need something to keep the dressing door open as players file out for kick off
  17. loz replied to a post in a topic in Chelsea FC Rumours
I do actually believe Billy G is the best of the lot (including JT) although we are talking marginal differences here. Cannavaro, JT, Billy, Nesta and Titus Bramble - very little between any of them and it is easy to argue the case for any of them.

We've sold Billy G to Real Madrid? When did this happen?
  19. Duff for ROI and Duff for Chelsea are two entirely different players. Having watched both of them as much as possible I can only come to the conclusion that Duff is playing on a leash for Chelsea. There can be no other explanation other than 'Duff is over awed by the talent around him at CHelsea whereas for ROI he is the main man' however I don't buy that as he has never come across as that kind of bloke. Also when you watch Duff for Chelsea it is not that he is trying to take players on (or be a winger - that definition is copyrighted by G4) and failing. He is consistently playing a possession game. This is not something a player who has performed in the way Duff did in Jose's first season suddenly starts doing on a whim, this is something a player does because he is being asked to fulfil a role. It is the way many 'wingers' have played in European football for many years and I have no doubt it is the role assigned to Duff. The fact that Cole has developed in other ways has no bearing on the Duff argument. Jose is building a team in a way that he thinks will win matches, what would be the value in Duff and Cole being developed into the same player?
  20. This FF link was mentioned on the previous site by Ossie13 so I brought it over so as not to lose the league details
