Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
Congrats to Belgium. I said before the draw was even made that Belgium would be my 2nd team, so now I guess I'll stick to that. Can't believe how well Yedlin looked after subbing in for arguably our best player, Fabian Johnson. Hopefully all the young guys that played well for us continue to develop, all those things never happen the way you want them too.

Are you kidding me?!?!?! He's a reserve player for Bayern Munich for those who don't know.

Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
Would've been a freak result if Wondo buried that at the end of the 2nd half. Belgium clearly better, but still proud we made it out of the group and even into extra time, much better than I expected.

I know, was just joking. I hope so, we have a nice TV deal over here with EPL now so it's super easy to watch games now. MLS does well attendance wise because most teams moved away from the giant NFL stadiums to more size-appropriate venues. It also sounds like a couple more "big names", ie starts passed their primes, will join the league this year, including Kaka, Villa, and possibly even Lampard. Wish my town had a chance of getting a team, KC is my closest team, about 3 hours away.- United States National Team Thread
We also sent the most fans to Brazil, so I think we have enough fans that understand the game Seriously though, I started loving the game when I was on vacation in London during the 2006 World Cup, tournaments like this are usually great for adding fans of the game.- United States National Team Thread
I'm a pessimist and think Belgium win it 2-1 in normal time.- United States National Team Thread
I think it can sound cool at the games, but I don't like how it's been co-opted by the advertisers an used for all the promotional spots.- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
You're Dutch, right? Not a fan of the national side?- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
Dislike Mexico but felt bad for them to go out like that. I think Robben made the most of the contact, but it was a clear pen for me.- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
Yes, I should have said that, I think whomever wins this makes the semis, but obviously anything could happen.- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
He was always rumored to go to United when they were trying to replace VDS. Mexico only got into the WC because of the US and now they're going to end up going to the damn semis.- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
They had a break in the first half of the US Portugal game as well. Just another reason there's no way Qatar should host.- Copa Do Mundo - The Round of 16
Can you imagine them with Falcao as well? Scary.- Ghana 2014 - How far has African football come
I do think players like Gyan get too much criticism. I think turning down that much money would be difficult, especially if the player has a lot of family members he wants to support. At the end of the day, this is a game, and he is being paid an obscene amount of money for his talent, which will likely decrease every year.- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
Weird to go through after losing 1-0, but I'll take it. U-S-A!- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
Anne Coulter is a joke and mostly does everything for shock value. I refuse to read what she said. As for Mac's question, yes, soccer is very suburban. Most of the urban populations are drawn to basketball and American football.- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
Oops. For some reason I was switching the 2 and 3.- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
I think Portugal advance there on goals scored?- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
5 of our players were born in Germany. German mothers, American servicemen fathers.- World Cup 2014 - Day 15
Last day of the group stage: Early games: USA v. Germany Ghana v. Portugal Later games: Algeria v. Russia Belgium v. South Korea Ghana have apparently kicked Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince-Boateng off of the team. So nervous for the US, even with a great chance to advance out of a tough group, I have this sinking feeling that something won't go our way today.- World Cup - Match Day 13
I don't think Tevez is on the team.- United States National Team Thread
Doubtful. He was interviewed before WC and mentioned how it was always hard having his dad as manager. He certainly hasn't had a good tournament though, after being picked to be our star player by many.- World Cup 2014 - Day 11
Hey now, we've always put in that much, usually because we were so less talented than our opposition. Jurgen is an amazing manager, especially for a team that's not expected to win the WC. We scored 2 goals without Altidore, who I know is a punchline in England but actually plays amazing for USMNT, and gives us the hold-up play that can be key to our play. They get 0 points from this group under Bob Bradley, but have a decent chance of getting out of the group.- World Cup 2014 - Day 11
Very true, and a draw in the other game automatically puts US and Germany through. A low-scoring Portugal win would too. Still, when you are 20 seconds from a win, it hurts. Apparently 4 minutes was ordered and then Zusi took too long walking off field and extra minute was ordered. Not saying that's unfair, but hurts to hear. Oh well, on to Thursday. - United States National Team Thread
