  1. "Abramovich is not expected to attend Wednesday night’s home match against Bolton Wanderers as he gets ready for Friday’s party at his estate in St Barts but he will probably watch the match and will receive a briefing from his trusted lieutenant, and key Chelsea director, Eugene Tenenbaum." Says it all really. Fiddling while Rome burns or what!
  2. I think he'll develop into a better player quicker if his place is secure for a while. Not something you'd consider for most 17 year olds, but he appears to be something special in terms of temperament as well as playing skills.
  3. Well, maybe not make him captain, but certainly give him a guaranteed start in every match regardless of his form. It's a gamble, but I think he'd come up trumps and give us all something to look forward to next season.
  4. Make Josh captain, tell him he's starting every match to the end of the season, and that he can do anything he damned well pleases. We might just see something to lift the spirits, or at least something to keep us awake.
  5. Interesting to hear David Mellor just now on Radio5. He spends his 5 grand a year on a season ticket but says he no longer feels part of the club in any way. Maybe the players feel the same.
  6. But you seem to start with the premise that we have a leader and that he must step up and become a true leader. The position of "leader" doesn't exist at this club, and never will while RA is in charge.
  7. We don't have a leader. Nobody's in charge. Haven't you noticed?
  8. I agree with the "head of the fish" comments. RA doesn't care, and nor does anyone else. I can't find any other way to explain how a world class side can suddenly become a bunch of losers.
  9. It's only another must-win game. Better get used to them
  10. In an ideal world Drogba shouldn't even be defending set pieces. It makes a breakaway highly unlikely and gives the opposition the confidence to push forward
  11. Couldn't agree more. I certainly wouldn't want him at this club. But, as an example of putting yourself about, he's hard to beat.
  12. Let's hope they saw Tevez in action yesterday. That's how hard you need to work
  13. Ironically, Tevez wanting to go home to his wife and children seems to have had a similar effect at City
  14. Where JT put his knob was never of the slightest interest to any football fan I know.
  15. Could be something to do with the fact that we've had as many managers as ManU, Liverpool and Arsenal combined over the last 25 years, suggesting that perhaps things are traditionally never quite right at SB.
  16. Alright, alright. I see from my desktop calendar that it's Xmas, so I'll wish you and fellow sufferers a good one, and hope we have something to agree about on Boxing Day. Strange to think that in 1956-57 we played Arsenal on Xmas Day and Boxing Day. Those were the days!
  17. Nice to see that we now have ManU at home between Blackpool and Birmingham, so maybe things are more even than they were.
  18. Let's put it this way. We didn't play anyone who isn't currently in the bottom half of the table, including two of the bottom three. That was an easy start in my book
  19. City are proof that you can shop till you drop and still lose at home to 10 men Everton, so I hope we're looking at long term investment rather than a quick fix
  20. If anyone has to state the bleeding obvious yet again, surely it should be Carlo.
  21. The ones that everybody agreed were easy i.e. before City away
  22. Just a repeat of last season then, with what's left of the squad a year older, and the kids still in the playground. No problem. Since Liverpool we've been second best to anyone trying harder than us, that's the depressing thing.
  23. Two points behind, a game in hand, plus our easy fixtures at the beginning of the season. I can't really put a positive spin on that.
  24. Neither made much impact at Old Trafford though
