  1. There’s a thought: Kung Fu - Fashanu v Eddie McCreadie, victim impact statement from Billy Bremner!
  2. From past captions I think it is the late Stan Bowles of QPR being chopped on this occasion.
  3. Here’s the aftermath in the Wimbledon penalty area …
  4. And from memory right hooked Fashanu (when we about to take a corner) and put him on the floor, and was promptly sent off. We lost 0-4.
  5. The tackle (if you can call it that) on Viv Anderson at Highbury on that hot, sunny day in 84 lives long in the memory; Anderson ended up in the spectators - Chopper would have approved.
  6. Now that was a day out … at various time I watched from three sides of the Goldstone ground !!
  7. What a load of bo**ocks … well 6 out of 8 anyway!
  8. Great photo of Chopper with the Cup - but the boots he is wearing obviously are not the ones he wore in the Cup Final replay. The boots he is wearing have complete sets of studs, whereas we all know three of the studs ended up embedded in the back of Eddie Gray’s knee ….
  9. I remember setting off early for Upton Park on New Years Day 1985, I got as far as Victoria only to learn the match was postponed due to the pitch, or more accurately half of it, being frozen. Bates told the media he thought Wet Spam deliberately left the pitch uncovered to get the match postponed. Cue to head to the pub for New Year’s refreshments.
  10. Happy days at Upton Park in days gone by. Anyone around for the smack up in the corner where the South Bank met the Chicken Run - can’t remember which year that was?
  11. Some great photos in there, I am guessing that the Bolton away photo was of ‘that’ match in 83?
  12. Never mind all this new talent, are we quite sure we don’t want to bring Alan Mayes out of retirement, or Robert Fleck, or at a push Tony Cascarino … (for those than can remember and still have the nightmares …). Please allow me some latitude - I have a warped sense of humour.
  13. Spot on mate - dead smart I reckon.
  14. Agreed, and while we are about it can we go back to a yellow away strip with blue relief - please!
  15. Very sad news that JJ has passed - a top bloke in every way, and never gave less than 110% effort. I wont forget the clenched fist salute when he ran out to warm up, home and especially away. I felt he really ‘got’ us and what CFC meant to us. Sad day, rest easy JJ.
  16. That was a day and a half - what a turnout, plenty of ours in the Arsenal seats as well. Happy days.
  17. Much enjoyed the post - count myself lucky to have enjoyed those days.
  18. Left to right: Cat Bonetti, then goalkeeping coach; Eddie in a dodgy shiny suit having done his knee (hence the crutches) - Francis played in the final and I think left us not long afterwards: not sure who next (offers please), and finally the stand-in for Inspector Blakey from On the Buses (remember that?) in the doorway. Boom boom.
  19. I know mate - I’m almost ashamed of myself; still, compared to getting trashed 6-0 at Rotherham things ain’t so bad.
  20. Right now I would settle for Robert Fleck, or even Alan Mayes ….
  21. Thanks mate - much appreciated: ‘Ere we go, ere we go, ere we go - ooh ah!’
  22. JJ - one of John Neal’s best signings - he really got us and the clench fist salute as he ran out to warm up, home or away, got us going - not that we needed it. Could not find a clenched fist photo, does anyone have one? Apparently he is not so well these days - anyone know the latest?
