  1. Chopper and Eddie Mac, who kicked over the top of the ball, which did not bounce as the pitch was 95% sand - funny that.
  2. I would have loved to be able to get there but can’t - please give a shout out to Joey Jones if he is there - I felt he really ‘got’ us, the clenched fist salute in front of Gate 13 or wherever we were away from home when he ran out lives in my memory. Can’t see any of the current lot with that sort of attitude. Hope it’s a great night.
  3. I think these two are taken in the away dressing room at Highbury on that wonderful hot sunny day that marked our return to Div 1. An 1130am kick off rather like our London derbies in the promotion season before. (Help me here) top picture: Ian McNeill, Deadly Doug, Colin Lee, Eddie Eddie, Colin Pates, Dale Jasper (in the corner), Nigel Spackman, John Neal, and hiding behind the grey hair (16) is, I think, Peter Bonetti. Lower picture includes Joe McLaughlin (5), Derek Johnstone (by the door) and Norman Medhurst in the white shorts. His father Harry was trainer before him and was a big smoker - you can find pics of him with a fag on during training. Very happy days, massive turn out from our mob that day.
  4. Me too, back row of Gate 13, just along from the Stockwell mob.
  5. At the fourth attempt to make this ****ing post …. A great win for us in what was a drab match, me and a mate were there sat in the Highbury West Stand. Johnny B scored for us late on in front of the North Bank; cue bedlam in the Clock End and small pockets of Chels in the East (Main) Stand and West Stand. A few Arse close to us started giving it the big verbals but nothing else, not least as we were close the the Clock End and reinforcements were close by if it went off. Left to right in the photo: Erland Johnson, Kevin MacAllister, Johnny B, Peter (Carthorse) Nicholas, Judas Durie and King Kerry.
  6. Hope this works … enjoy ….
  7. Hutch trading punches with Hunter in the centre circle, Cooke threatening I’m not sure who with a right hander, Eddie Mac’s king fu job on Bremner and - the highlight - Ronnie’s chop on Gray let everyone know we were not the Southern Softies that cnut Revie said we were. Up the Chels. Can you imagine how some of the useless plonkers playing for us today would have managed … I was 11 when this marvellous moment in our history happened, watched it in my Jim Jams with my Dad. 28m watched it live - check the records - mind you it was on BBC and ITV, and there were only 3 channels in 1970 - haha.
  8. I cant cope with us being so sh!t - what on earth have the last 20 years been about ? Please get rid of Potter before he does long term damage to our club, if he hasn’t already - aaaaaargh
  9. Nice post Blue Haze, brings a tear to the eye, can you imagine that sort of support these days - I would not fancy being a oppo player taking a throw in front of them.
  10. Yes, both did short spells as a guest of Her Majesty.
  11. Yes, just checked, King Kerry and Micky Thomas scored for us.
  12. Is the the match that followed the week after the smack up at the Bridge? We were banned but a few of our mob ignored that - and I think we won 0-2?
  13. I am pretty sure Leeds were in all red, they wore the red socks at Wembley in 1970.
  14. Looking at the hair, the clothes and Bates’ fence I’m guessing 85-88 ish, and where the front of the T bar meets the benches, or slabs of concrete as they were post Sunderland ‘85.
  15. Still my favourite away strip ever.
  16. Guilty as charged, back of the tea bar that night having arrived late. The atmosphere had a strange feel to it that night.
  17. The Liverpool v CFC photo is from 85, a 1-1 draw, Keith Jones and Jerry Murphy in the photo. Pat Nevin equalised for us after a typical dodgy penalty for them.
  18. I think this photo is us away at Spuds in 84, an 1130am kick off, all ticket, a 1-1 draw, we scored early on, and Paul Canoville had the chance to win it late on but put it over. The Police had put barriers up the middle of Tottenham High Road to try to segregate fans well before the ground. Massive turn out from our mob.
  19. I hear that Winston Bogarde could be tempted out of retirement for £40 grand a week, good value, or so it seemed in 2001 ..? Wonder what he is doing now?
  20. Good to see our mob packed in the school end terrace, a handsome turnout on Boxing Day - mind you, the tube ran on Boxing Day then.
  21. Keith Jones on the plastic at Loftus Road, Boxing Day 84, a 2-2 draw.
  22. I am of the generation who travelled to QPR for many a Boxing Day, this from 1981, and a goal from that useless carthorse Alan Mayes in a 0-2 win.
  23. I am of the generation who travelled to Loftus Road on Boxing Day for many years, this from 1981 …
