Frank Lampard has described himself as a "Chelsea lifer" and insists he could play until he is 38.

The England midfielder, 31, has earned a reputation as one of the more durable players in the Barclays Premier League and, ahead of his 14th season as a professional, is confident he can go on for a while yet.

He told The Times: "I've never put a figure on it but I'd like to go further than my contract is now (with four years left).

"With the correct training and nutrition I don't see why I can't go on until I am 37 or 38.

"It might be difficult for strikers with that extra yard of pace being so important but midfield players can keep going, especially if you keep learning."

Lampard regularly helps out with the youth team at Stamford Bridge and he admits a future in management does appeal.

He added: "I'm a Chelsea lifer now. With the news about John Terry staying, we've both been here a long time and I'd like to keep it that way.

"Management does interest me now.

"I didn't want it a few years ago but, having worked with a lot of good managers and enjoyed seeing young players coming through, I'd like to give it a go.

"I've spoken to John about it and we're looking at doing our badges together.

"I'd love to manage Chelsea one day. It's a bit of a dream as I've got such a strong affiliation to the club but John might beat me to it."

Super super super Frank Lampard!!! ::ChELSeAFaN::

I dont like to bring it up out of context, but it makes a strong contrast to Stevie Me talking about how he might bow out at the end of his current deal.

If we are still watching Frank bang in 15 goals a season in 2016, I will be a happy man

It would be great to see Lampard getting into management. I sincerely hope, however, that it is not immediately after he stops playing. It would be ideal for him to get some valuable coaching experience at the lower levels or a foreign league (maybe in the PSV setup, considering our links).

I think he might well play into his late 30s. He would make a very good deep lying midfielder when he's lost the pace and stamina to go box to box.

I hope my children see Lamps playing for us and I'm not even married yet.

I remember when Scholes scored 20 in a season from midfield at Utd and everybody purred about it, Frank does it year after year.

That was a great compilation video, goals with his left foot, right foot, headers. How many assists?(Knowonder Drogba likes him). Skill, vision an amazing array of passes. A great box to box engine and work rate to go with his outfield appearance record.

Make no mistake Super Frank is up there with the very best to everwhere Chelsea blue, he'll be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Bonnetti, Harris, Osgood and Zola in years to come. Our leading goalscoring midfielder, who could play for a good few years yet because he has never been quick and like a fine wine as got better with age.

Super Frank is a Chelsea Legend.
