Carlo was quoted with saying this after the match: "I made changes because I have good quality players and a lot of matches, and I want to keep players fresh and in good condition.â€

It seems to me to be a bit early to be making changes based on keeping players fresh. Maybe it's more about keeping a big squad of stars happy. I really hope he doesn't follow Rafa's example with Torres and start resting Drogba. He's such a confidence player, plus he needs to build an understanding with his strike partner.

Having said that, I'd love to see Studge as a starter! I think he'll become a huge star for us and England.

I think its a bit of both. This season being a crammed one due to World Cup next summer, its important to use the whole squad right from the start. And then there is a necessity of keeping everyone motivated for the long season ahead. The squad depth will come real handy for us this season.

Always a tricky one this and the subject will always produce agruements with the fors and againsts rotation. The manager can be in a no win situation to a certain extent as people will always criticise, whatever he decides to do.

It's made easy when players are out of form - like Ballack, Deco, Malouda etc have been in recent times. You leave them out and keep to the winning team. But what when the team is winning and no-one is under-performing? Every player is giving a good account of himself when on the pitch?

I personally don't like wholesale changes EVERY match, but I think a bit of rotation is good and will keep players fresher. I expect your Lamps, Ashley, Cech and JT will never be "rested", but think the rest of the squad will all benefit from a bit of rotation NOW AND AGAIN. Also keeps the opposition on their toes when they can't predict what 11 we are putting out.

I think the rotation will be a good thing. Almost every outfield player in our squad is very capable of scoring a goal or providing good assists. The problem Liverpool had was that the squad had no depth, so quality players were replaced by 2nd rate players. Our squad is arguably one of the deepest in the world so I doubt we'll be having that issue - with Matic in the squad, we now have 10+ players fighting for the 4 midfield spots!

I don't think Carlo is foolish enough to rotate for the sake of rotating, so as long as players are in good form, they'll get game time. If he can get the balance between keeping the squad fresh and winning, we're going to have a great season!

Totally agree mate, it's like a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. however, I think we will see a core of players that will play most of our premiership games. Some of the peripheral players will be used more in games of "lesser" importance, with the first teamers being put on the bench should they be needed.

I think a strong core, and a constantly rotating peripheral will be more what we see. Maybe 2-4 players being switched in and out, especially when Zhirkov is fit.
