NO! I'M NOT INVITING YOU ALL CHEZ MOI TO DRINK ALL MY BOOZE!

I'm just flagging up the fact that this wonderful film is on BBC4 tonight from 7.40 - 9.00 p.m.

Here's what the programme blurb says about it. It doesn't do it justice! It's worth watching even if it's just for the scene where the Presbyterians stand morosely on the cliff on a Sunday night waiting for it to be Monday so they can row out to the wrecked ship to steal the whisky!

"Adapted by Compton Mackenzie and Angus MacPhail from Mackenzie's own novel, Alexander Mackendrick's sublime film is one of the jewels in the Ealing crown. At the centre of this droll story of whisky smuggling in the Hebrides during the Second World War stands Basil Radford, who gives the performance of his career as the despised Sassenach commanding the local Home Guard. The Todday islanders are played to perfection by such accomplished players as Gordon Jackson, Wylie Watson and Joan Greenwood, while Catherine Lacey is a delight as Radford's wife, who greets his posturing and humiliation with equal detachment."

I noticed this film was on too, and as I've never seen it I'm looking forward to watching it tonight! I've got the book by Compton McKenzie, along with "The Monarch Of The Glen" & "The Rival Monster" in "The Highland Omnibus", all of which are a wonderful read.

Excellent film, well worth watching

Its a good film, one for a rainy day, just so happens its raining. :(

Whiskey Galore finishes at 9pm, if you have freeview or SKY turn over to Film4 at 9pm and try watching Little Miss Sunshine, its a cracking film, no big stars, just really good characters with a superb storyline, its a bit of a road trip movie, 2 good films back to back for free, cant be bad.
