Does anybody else think this is the perfect situation for Sturridge to play with Anelka? They both have very similar games. They both use their ball control, dribbling skills, and speed to get past defenders and create plays, where somebody like Drogba uses his power. If you watch highlights of Anelka when he was young, he looks and plays like Sturridge does now. I see Sturridge as a great long time replacement for Anelka. Sturridge gets the great oppurtunity to learn from a guy that plays the same way. Thoughts?

I can see some comparisons, and I certainly think that it is a great time for DS to learn from Nico. However, I think they are too similar too each other, and would rather see Sturridge play with someone like Drogba.

I'd actually be interested to see a front line of Sturridge and Borini.

I agree that it would be better for the team for Sturridge to play with Drogba, because then there would be two strikers in the game that play differently. That is why Anelka and Drogba are successful together, but I am saying that it is good for Sturridge to see how a player like Anelka plays and succeeds. They do play similar it is a a good way for Sturridge to learn.

I totally agree, that's why I said I felt it was a good time for Sturridge to learn from Nico (while Drogba is gone).

I'd like to see Sturridge try a bit more with his right foot (despite scoring with it today) as he seemed to let a lot of play catch up with him while he was trying to get the ball onto his left foot

Sturridge should learn as much as he can now, and come in as the first reserve once Drogba comes back. I liked both Studge and Anelka today.

Sturridge is spoilt for choice with who to learn off... I agree his movement and dribbling abilty is quite similar to Anelka's but would you rather not see him also learn of Drogba for being deadly in the box? He could prove to be a bargain even if the fee does goes up to £6.5mill...

Good post BrewCrew. I think there is no better way to learn how than with Anelka and Drogba eventually. Anelka's been so good this season that he'd be the best senior player to learn from in most teams I think. I really hope we stole a gem from City!

good post brew...........sturridge looks better each game, at city he had long run but didn't score much, now he looks likely

his control and movement are very good, one small worry is he nearly always collects and goes to the right

he his quick and strong and doesn't back-chat or creat a fuss when fouled - abosultely looks like a young anelka

his goals are mostly close in (which is ok), i'd like to see bit more long range and some headers!

he can play with either drogs or nico in my view

very sneaky signing by cfc..............he has more goals this year than robinho
