Uefa has named France as the hosts of the 2016 European Championships.

Not really a surprise considering who they were up against and the problems UEFA are having with the Ukraine 2012 competition.

When you look at the 3 contenders it was basically deciding which country were the lesser cheats and the least likely to embarrass. On one hand we have the Italian bid, hardly covered themselves in glory the last few years due to certain dodgy dealings in the league. Turkey, hmmm. Or france, so basically they got it through default.

Considering the three countries mentioned I would rather have had Turkey that won the bid to host the 2016 European Championship. The reason being that it would have been good to have had a new country that hosted the finals. I am dissapointed that the French got it but then again Platini is the President of UEFA so go figure.
