At the very least, his injury should open some eyes at the club.

This midfield depends on him like nothing else. And he isnt going to play forever. Assuming he is now human and will be missing some games every year, we are gonna need to search for a replacement (and I am sorry, a 17 year old josh is not the guy right now unless we want to make or break this kid forcibly) who can push us on and connect the dots for us in attack.

We banked our season on him by getting rid of Ballack, Deco, Cole etc, now it's backfiring spectacularly. Not Frank's fault, he's bound to get injured or lose form once every 5 years. Whoever made the call to cut 5 and buy 2 should take all the blame. I don't expect a miracle return from Lampard when he comes back, the other 9( apart from Cech) still needs to improve about 20-30%. We had no one who can put in a defence spliting through ball yesterday, made me think Deco wasn't that bad a player, could have used him yesterday.

Ballack is the player we should have kept.

I know he has been injured a lot this season in Germany, but a fit Ballack would have negated a lot of the problems we've faced during this injury crisis.

The thing that really amazes me were the amount of people saying we weren't missing Frank, just because we started so well.

Lamps is probably still our most important player, and we need him fit and firing on all cylinders as soon as he returns to the team.

We were coping well with without him but we had a backup to him at the time, in Benayoun. Two players who perform the same role for us, and they're out at the same time... that's always going to be difficult to deal with. If we would have kept Ballack we wouldn't have signed Benayoun, and they've both had injuries this season as you've said... we'd be in no better position.
