Right boys and girls, regale me with your favourite tunes from the Britpop era. Some of my favourites are these babies....

Longpigs - She said

Shed 7 - Standby

Belly - seal my fate

Carter - Only living boy in new cross

Teenage Fan cub - What you do to me..

Mansun - Wide open space (cant believe no-one has posted this)

And this absolute monster tune

The Breeders - Cannonball

Oh dear, dickywuh, you make me feel sooooooooooo oooooooold! :D

Interesting thread DKW, though i may just have to be a pedant!

As great as they are/were you cant really call The Breeders/Belly BritPop!

You've overlooked one quite important fact - they are American! 'Cannonball' was a good couple of years before the Britpop 'movement' as well. Still, its one of the best rock songs ever made in my opinion.

Actually the same goes for Carter. Not great with dates and years but i do remember stomping along to 'Sherriff Fatman' at The Birmingham Hummingbird on Saturday nights when i was 16, which wouldve been '91. I think the song you picked cant have been to long after that. English for sure but i think they predated Britpop.

Anyway, thanks for doing this - I havent heard The Longpigs in ages, great tune. Be interesting to see what people pick, i would suspect there will be a lof of sh*te, with a few gems thrown in....

Like this one - my nomination

Ah, you pedantic sod. But I did quantify it by putting "britpop" era in the first line...so ner. Longpigs were massively underrated at the time, but The sun is often out is one of my favourite albums of all time.

Good choice by you, belting song that.
