Through a couple of mediums today a bit of chat about the above.

New Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has reportedly identified the heart of the defense as one sector in need of some changes, as he looks to put his stamp on the the side he inherited from Carlo Ancelotti.

Pepe, who cost Real Madrid €30 million [£26m] in 2007, is believed to be unhappy at the lack of progress over a new deal with the Spanish club, and could look to move on as a result.

The Spanish capital club will reportedly not offer Pepe more than a €4m-a-year deal, and according to Marca, Chelsea are prepared to equip the Portugal international with an annual €5m salary.

Also in today's Metro...

Personally think there might be some mileage in this one.

AVB said at his first press conference that he wanted to see everyone in training before making his mind up, and if he was going to give up on solving any position internally defence seems one of the least likely. I think this is mostly just the press running low on plausible stories, between AVB's training remark and most of our possible attacking targets being off at the Copa America.
