Dorset
Yes, it’s official: Chelsea FC indisputably, undeniably, take the coveted title of ‘Team of the Season 2011/12’ after winning those two major trophies just paraded in front of the very eye of an ever-negative Cyclopic Media. So now we, the fans forever painted in the poorest of lights by these pundits and hacks, can take some time out to wallow in the discomfort the self-elected purveyors of truth to the football world are feeling as they find their various ways and means of skirting around the blinding obviousness of this statement of fact. In truth, bluntly and as crudely as possible, we don’t give a **** what they think anymore because this Chels squad has done it all. The lot. Everything you care to mention or care about in football has been conquered by the climbing of this Champions League peak and the sticking of our blue plastic flag in the top of it… and jeez does it feel good watching these prissy-print messenger boys squirm there way through each paragraph of pusillanimous prose, leaving no scintilla of negativity left unturned, for an umpteenth time, knowing full well how much it hurts them to go back over the old ground in such a mindless, futile fashion. And try as they might - from weary post match talk and tale of Roman’s failure to bestow immediate full managerial status on Robbie, to how team mates must have been embarrassed by the sight of JT muscling-in on the big-eared trophy-raising, to the impending crassness of letting Didier go, like it’s China in our hands rather than his, or that old chestnut they cannot wait to roast, namely, after spending billions a Russian gets the European Cup [or ‘Holy Grail’ as he constantly refers to it in the myriad of exclusive articles he has never given to the press] by unfair financial means that is declared foul when roubley, yet fine when in comparable dollary form - nope, none of this guff works anymore. Even with a night to sleep on it, scribes like Patrick Collins still can’t resist the small-mindedness of putting JT in the spotlight of his back page Mail on Sunday piece, just to regurgitate bile over his presence in the England squad and at the same time have a dig at Roy Hodgson for dropping his beloved Rio. Then you get Alan Hansen managing to quietly forget his recent dismissive views on our club to back-track his way down memory lane and compare our performance with the Liverpool team of his day. After living in the past [yet again] the gullible might think there might be a degree of mellowness in the article, until they reach his conclusion, which reads, ’It has been a criticism of Chelsea since the Russian walked into Stamford Bridge that money cannot buy you history. Saturday’s final proved that, in actual fact, you can.’….Oh Alan, how we are laughing at you and these petty jibes now and how it must have hurt to be so churlish in this, of all, Liverpool seasons! In fact, Liverpool links abound, with self-confessed fan Guillum Ballague coming out of the woodwork to give us a timely Torres interview suitably slanted towards what Reds want to hear rather than the actuality. Giving him his little moment in the sun, or in this instance the Sky, may keep a few Scousers firmly in their mystifyingly-held belief that Fernando would, ergo, always have been have been better off staying put on Merseyside, but this risible viewpoint could only ever be part of an Anfield mentality that relies heavily on delusion at the best of times. With that in mind, isn’t it nice to be able to revel in the fact that Chelsea will be going onwards and upwards in Europe, not only at the expense of a Spurs side and manager so inexplicably lauded by the Media throughout last season, but also against a backdrop that sees Liverpool a further 18 points off the pace and iconic manager-less?!. Indeed, as Martin Samuel (one of the few exemplary good guys around) pointed out today in his column, way back in 2005 in the Champions League there was one UEFA rule for Liverpool and another for everybody else. Okay, rough justice it must surely have been for their neighbours then, but how good it feels to be benefiting from that dodgy ruling today, not least as it enables us to pursue the next gold star in our firmament. dkw
They really are unbelievable at times, the Stars back page today had 2 stories, one saying Torres wants to leave and one saying RDM is wanted by Villa. And thats it.
SHELLY
Can you imagine how terrible it would have been if we'd lost...Ha Ha Ha Haters gotta hate, all I can think about is that moment when Drogba equalised...pure heaven, for years the press have using the "Abramovich only wants to win the CL" stick to beat all our new managers with, well we've got it now, so they'll have to think of something else. I'm sure the negativity will never end from some journos, but so what, their bitterness increases my enjoyment of the whole glorious weekend i've just experienced... stevo
Never ever look at the news or read papers. They are all full of sh*t,never a word of truth, and journalists are the absolute scum of the earth.I'm still smiling at what our Chelsea has achieved, only sunk in this morning. So proud of this team and what a way for the mighty Drog to go out. Life does not get better than this.Up the Chels.
