Posted January 24, 200718 yr Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer feels Michael Ballack made the wrong decision in joining Chelsea ahead of Manchester United. Bayern are keen to strengthen their midfield after losing their skipper last summer to Chelsea under the Bosman Ruling. Ballack continues to be overshadowed by Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge and has yet to win over the Chelsea supporters. "I believe something has to happen in midfield [in the summer at the latest]," commented Beckenbauer on Bayern's situation. "We are missing a player like Deco, Diego or Lionel Messi, or a young Mehmet Scholl. We don't have anybody like that. "I don't see a position for him [ballack] at Chelsea - the ideal position where he played at Bayern or where he plays in the Germany national team. "He does not fit in at Chelsea. "He should have gone to Manchester United." Bet he doesn't remember saying this (Oct 26, 2005) "I cannot imagine that he (Ballack) would go to Manchester United," Rummenigge told television channel Premiere. "What do Manchester United have that Bayern Munich don't? If you take a quick look at the English table then it seems it is nothing. If I was a player I would not go to Manchester United under any circumstances." Link : http://www.wldcup.com/news/2005Oct/2005 ... occer.html Did we have a lucky escape ?
January 24, 200718 yr Rumenigge has talked nothing but twaddle since he hung up his boots - irrespective of who Ballack signed for he would find a reason to have a go at him for it purely because he didn't stay with Bayern.
January 24, 200718 yr Hey, new bloke, please change your avatar back to a picture of OGS because at least that image portrayed something I had some sort of respect for.

January 24, 200718 yr Well, whatever turns you on new bloke, but better keep those fantasies to yourself.
January 24, 200718 yr Apparently we have different views on what the word avatar means on forum like this, but nice pictures anyway. They work as a good motivator...one day, one day! Sorry couldn't resist it. Anyway keep on dreaming

Loz having not seen enough of chelsea this season to base a judgement, what are your thoughts on Ballack ?. Is it the case he needs more time to adapt ? Does is style suit your team ?

January 24, 200718 yr Nice avatar new bloke, Joey made a mug of your defence in the space of a square yard, great stuff
January 24, 200718 yr Loz having not seen enough of chelsea this season to base a judgement, what are your thoughts on Ballack ?.Is it the case he needs more time to adapt ? Does is style suit your team ? First and foremost Ballack is a quality football player, he had proven that in domestic football, he has proven it in European football and he has proven that in International football. I am the first to admit we haven't seen the best of him at Chelsea so far however I don' for a second doubt his quality or that we will see a much improved Ballack possibly before this season is out and definitely next season. He has only ever played in one league his entire career and, as wth the majority of players, moving to a new team and a new league is going to take some time to adjust to. Yes we can all name examples of players who have walked into a team and been top drawer from day one (Zola for example) however we can name a lot more who have needed a settling in period. Does his style suit our team? I would probably say his style would suit us better if we played with wingers or an orthodox support striker (rather than a main striker filling in as a supprt striker) as he has a very quick footballing brain and is very capable at picking out players quickly on the break (far better at this than Lamps for example). One side to his game we are failing to take advantage of is his ability in the air at corners - the main reason for this being that our corners are often decidedly average and easy to defend. I would admit that he needs to pull his finger out a little more in matches - I don't think he has been as lazy as some would accuse him of however there have been times where he could make a little more effort - especially when you take account of the fact that his form is being questioned. I do think that Jose should have benched him a few times in the manner he has Sheva to let him know he, like everyone else, has a place in the team to win and retain.
January 24, 200718 yr And just in case...for your info, those pics of Rooney and Fallover-boy aren't the pictures new bloke originally posted and to which I replied to. You reckon you're quite the comedian, eh?
January 24, 200718 yr You should have used that other picture you said about Loz? It wasn't meant for you Mak, but I couldn't help how you replied to the posts, good job you edited, wasn't it something about dreaming originally, sorry mate.
