Best International Squad vs Best Club Squad

Featured Replies

This might be an asinine question or one that has already been discussed ad nauseum, but my buddy who is American and is in love with Spain was arguing that their squad would beat any other squad International or Club.  I didn't immediately question this, but I began considering it.  Spain has been untouchable until Brazil got a hold of them recently.  On the other hand, the Club teams grab the best talent in the world and play much more games together.  So I come to the experts.  What say you?

Barcelona are pretty much Spain with their two weakest links (striker and right back) replaced by arguably the best in the world in both positions. And they got thumped 7-0 by Bayern, who have just improved their squad by adding Gotze and Thiago.

A bit simplistic that but I'd say no.

International squads don't get nearly as much time to practice and train with each other, and I have no doubt that numerous club team's would be able to beat Spain.

Any of the best club teams could beat any of the big international teams, on any given day

It's football. Both teams would be quality...it would just depend on which one showed up on the day.
