Euro 2016 hosts France may play in qualifying, with no points awarded for games against them in group

Hosts of European Championships in 2016 will still qualify automatically, but may play in preliminary rounds to ensure they play worthwhile friendlies

England could be drawn to face European Championship hosts France in their qualifying group for the tournament under controversial new proposals set to be ratified by Uefa.

Oh for the love of god.

The group they got put in for the world cup is also slightly suspicious considering they should have been one of the lowest seeded teams until Platini altered the draw

Fortunately their team is so sh*te aside from Ribery that even Woy can probably beat them.

And to clarify, my definition of a win is of course a classic Woy 1-1 draw.

Oh for the love of god.

I've just read this in today's Observer....had to reread it several times, what a joke.

Plus there are 9 groups of six, top two going thru.with the third placed team going thru with others playing off, but its not clear how it will work in France's group as their results don't count!!

Platina has lost the plot on this one, increasing the tournament from 16 to 24 was bad enough but this is ridiculous.

Qualifiers will be played under a Week of Football format, games being played everyday from a Thurs. to a Tues.

The idea is to provide more TV coverage instead of games being played on the same night

With 54 teams, there is a 43.4% chance of qualifying once France are removed from the equation.

That % is higher for most half decent teams because you can rule out at least a dozen nations such as Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Andorra and the like.

The Observer reckons there will be lots of Groups of Dearth !!!

What a mess, thanks Platini
