April 28, 201610 yr At the age Chalobah was at Forest Pogba was a first teamer for Juventus. I just can't agree that the reason for that is because we sent chalobah on loan to the wrong club.
April 28, 201610 yr At the age Chalobah was at Forest Pogba was a first teamer for Juventus. And at the age Chalobah was an established first-team player for Watford, Paul Pogba played just 67 minutes for United and was being written off by some of their fans. Then the season after he goes to Juventus, gets a chance from Conte and is very much an established first-teamer by Christmas if I remember correctly. Nat on the other hand comes back from this loan where he's one of the brightest young prospects in English football and get's loaned to Forest. That was the wrong loan for the lad for a number of reasons. I don't see the sense in loaning a guy to a worse team in the same league he was in the season before. You may not agree that the club you loan a player to has an impact on their development and that's fine. I personally think things like coaching and playing minutes are important for players and opportunities need to be found for young players with potential at this club. It would seem as though some young lads are starting to realise that too if recent reports are to be believed. I know that this is a thread about Solanke but it seems as though we'll lose Aina too. That's worrying. Edited April 28, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91

April 28, 201610 yr Pogba was only being written off because he was in dispute with United. There is a reason he ended up at Juventus and not Watford. He ended up at Juve because he was out of contract and available for transfer. If Nat had been in the same position then I'm fairly confident a lot of big teams would've been in for him too, just like they were sniffing around Loftus-Cheek before he signed his contract. I'd hate to see this become a thread where we slate or diminish our own young talent though. I understand the reasoning for doing that because it means we didn't lose out on developing a great young talent and instead he just wasn't good enough, but I think if we're going to be proactive in developing players going forward we have to be honest about the mistakes of the past. That doesn't mean I'm right and he would've been a starting midfielder for us either. He may well have flopped. My point is that we never gave him the chance.
May 2, 201610 yr I am confident that Joe Edwards's reports on the loanees will be seriously looked at by Conte......and hope some of them young guys are given a chance in our 1st team.........am sounding like Ray Wilkins ! Sadly.........if there isn't a change in how we run our loanee business model system, then inevitably a lot of our home grown youth players will look to run down their contracts and leave on a free, rather than extend their contract just so the suits at Chelsea can get a fee for them.
