Our summer transfer window's since 2010.

Our board often take pasting's from the fans, and i guess in some cases it's deserved but in other's it just scream's of moaning for the sake of it, so i thought i'll access the strength of our window's since the turn of the decade. I'll rate between 1 and 5 star.

2010 2 stars - I give the 2 because we got half of it right. The player's we let go where well past there best and, aside from Ballack at the very end, not very good atall in the double season. The mistake came in not replacing them, that along with Carlo unable to reverse a crisis for month's set us back year's.

2011 3 stars - Took ages to get into the market at a time we needed an huge overhaul, the signing of Mata was great and much needed and Romeu was an unsung hero for a while but the fruitless pursuit of Modric made this a frustrating window.

2012 5 stars - This window yielded the start of our recovery. Hazard and Azpi signed, well enough said. Moses was brought in for depth and despite ultimately disappointing we tripled our money on Oscar. That's before mentioning we got shot off Bosingwa, Malouda (as good as) and Kalou.

2013 3 stars - Willian has been class for us and Eto'o played his part but Schurrle disappointed despite flashes and MVG i felt looked average even before his injury. Meh window, not 2010/2015 but equally not 2012/2014.

2014 5 stars  - We lost out in the title race previously due to no top class striker and lack of creativity and both issue's where rectifed immediately in Costa and Cesc. Signing Luis was the right idea but unfortunately it didn't work out. Recalling Courtois and with a heavy heart dropping Cech has been more than justified, imo it should have been done in 2012 (despite his Munich heroic's he was poor that season and was the start of his decline). Oh and the small matter of Torres finally departing.

2015 1.5 stars - I give the extra .5 due to the Begovic and Pedro signing's but beyond that, well what can i say? Awful from all involved, to Jose for not offering up plan B's to Stones and Pogba, to the board for not forcing that issue which led to the infamous Papy and Hector deadline day.

2016 4 stars - Kante has been a revelation, Bats could end up proving so and while getting took to deadline day for defensive reinforcement's wasn't ideal, both have proven to be brilliant signing's. It's probably the fact we have left it so late is why i haven't rated this window 5.

2017 so far 4.5 stars - Quality back up signed, defensive depth bolstered with Rudiger signed and Andreas recalled, midfield improved on and a top striker as good as done. We are pulling Alex Sandro away from it being our best window bar 2012 (will take something special to top that). This rating obviously has scope for change.

That's an overall average of 3.5 which i say is pretty impressive all in all, no? We have assembled a top team on relitevely good money for modern day standard's in the face of the Manc clubs playing supermarket sweep.

Agree for the most part. The board deserves a massive praise apart from 2015 window which was a shambles.

Not so sure about the rating of the current window (we have just replaced outgoing players in numbers and barely in quality [Costa~Morata, Matic~Bakayoko, JT~Rudiger, Begovic>Willy, Chalobah>Baker, Ake<Andreas]. We still lack depth in the wing back positions and given the fact about how mega important those positions are in the Conte System, I feel, our window will be defined by the upgrades/backups we get for Alonso and Moses.

Didn't think about the wing back position's (while posting) so ill take it down to a 4. I do however think/hope that we aren't selling Matic till we secure a replacement and i actually think Willy's an upgrade on Asmir in terms of what is required to be backup at a top club.
