Ive been asked to run a sports/Football quiz for a drinks company , local then maybe nationwide.

They have asked me to run it in 3 big bars in Dublin and its a challenge if anything else .

Now, im looking for as many questions and answers as i can get , Football...Champions League, Premiership, F.A. Cup , players questions , who was the first etc etc ? in fact anything related to the game past and present would be great.

Other sports , anything really .

So if anybody can help to throw their knowledge my way , id appreciate it . I only have 2 weeks to get it organised .

Yes i could easily browse the Net , but i found in the past it can be hit and miss regarding answers.

Thanks,

Just an idea, but when people post suggestions for questions, I think it would be good if you posted them like this:

Q: Who is the first team USA player to get sent off in FIFA World Cup history?

[spoil]A: Eric Wynalda(in Italy 1990 in the group stage match against Czechoslovakia)[/spoil]

---

I mean, it might be fun if people used the 'spoil' feature to hide the answer, so people can test their skills here too.

Which current Premiership club never got promoted, in fact should have been relegated and only stayed in the old First Division because they lied, cheated, and spread a few backhanders around to do so?

Probably too easy but for anyone who doesn't know it was the Arse.

Q: Which three footballers were the only winners of the European Player of the Year award to come from Soviet Union?

[spoil]A: Lev Yashin(1963), Oleg Blokhin(1975) and Igor Belanov(1986)[/spoil]

In the Champions League which team had a perfectly good goal against them disallowed which would have knocked them out in the quarter finals, then didn't score any goals, including penalties in the semi final then didn't win the final in normal or extra time yet still 'won' the trophy?

This one is easy, but I'll post it anyway:

Q: What is the only stadium to have served twice as the venue for a FIFA World Cup final?

[spoil]A: Estadio Azteca(Azteca Stadium) in Mexico(1970 and 1986).[/spoil]

A couple of Chelsea firsts that might help:

1. First team to take part in European match transmitted to England and shown live on closed-circuit TV

Fairs Cup semi-final play off awat to Barcelona in May 1966, relayed via six large screens and watched by nearly 10,000 fans at Stamford Bridge.

2. First club to erect wire fences behind the goal. That was in October 1972

Good one this. How many titles did Chelsea win in 1955?

Answer: 4

Football League Champions

Football Combination Champions (Reserves)

Metropolitan League ("A" team)

South-East Counties Champions (Juniors)

And unless I'm very much mistaken, that year we were the first English team to qualify for the European Cup, as was, but the Football League in their wisdom wouldn't let us take part, being of the opinion that such things were beneath their dignity and best left to those funny foreign chaps.

here are 2 more

why do some clubs have triangular corner flags and others have square corner flags?

only FA cup winners are permitted to have triangular flags.

Why are Blackburn Rovers the only club with their badge on their corner flags?

They won the FA cup three years in a row in the 1800s and the FA could not afford to give them the cup to keep so they allowed them to have their badge on their corner flags.

I think Trevor Francis' pricetag was actually 1? under a million because Cloughie didn't want Francis' mind get messed up with the notion of breaking the record transfer fee. Although the full price was over ?1mil after the taxes were added to it.
