I didn't realise Tommy Lawton played for CFC until you posted that.

I knew the old man recalled Lawton so asked him about it and he said he saw him at Millwall and was marked out of the game yet scored a great header.

He mentioned at the match that him and mate could not get in and a guy standing against the railings asked him what was wrong, he said they couldn't get in as the tickets had sold out.

The guy bent forward and put out an arm and lifted him and his mate into the ground.

The old man rarely went to football yet was always fascinated by our tales of supporting Chelsea.
