May 5, 20224 yr I thought about the historic collapse by Manchester city yesterday, and I could not help but think About their such an improbable match Against QPR on that last day Of the Premier league season several years ago, giving them their first title. In that match, they scored two goals in injury time to win the title by one point over Manchester United. Well, I think yesterday they had to make the payback for selling their soul to the devil on that day Several years ago. I wonder if it was worth it for them?
May 5, 20224 yr It's not the same though. City's turnaround against QPR was for them to win the PL. This one was for them to have a shot in the final which they may still lose anyway. Edited May 5, 20224 yr by Mana
May 5, 20224 yr Author And I didn’t say it was an equal payback, just a different pound of flesh from a different part of the body. Though I think it may be somewhat equal in despair vs. ecstasy. Edited May 5, 20224 yr by Phillip
May 5, 20224 yr I was thinking if Pep had brought on Fernandinho as an extra defensive midfielder to see the match out they may have gone through. Pep builds very good teams yet he is not a master tactician and so fails when he comes up against other good managed teams. Over a season in the league his strong team will roll over most teams yet cup matches against good managers often beat him. As Wellington said of Napoleon at Waterloo, 'He is just a pounder after all'
May 5, 20224 yr Author Good point. I thought Carlo was crazy to bring on 3 more strikers essentially for the last 10 minutes, but it worked to perfection.
