Stamford The Lion

On another CFC contact group, a chap refers to himself as the above. Got me thinking; he was our cuddly mascot, no doubt engineered to appeal to kid supporters. How long was he on the scene for? I’m guessing about 81- 84.

West Ham mates told me when we played them in 84, when their lot got turfed out of Gate 13 and led back to the North Terrace, Stamford was giving it large, and was ‘ un marsked” by a WHUFC fan. Bit like that 70’s wrestler, Kendo Nagasaki.

Was at that game and have zero recollection on that. Any insights, or general opinions of Stamford The Lion

Was good natured back then, chanting from The Shed "Stamford Stamford give us a wave.........!"

He was great for the kids, but with all that has come out from that period in recent years , I do fear it's only a matter of time before we

get a Panorama Special on Stamford - The Monster.............!

You don’t really get much irreverent silliness at football anymore. Nothing could me more bonkers than singing one man went to mow a meadow. Totally  stupid but we didn’t give a f**k.
