The Manchester City owner, Thaksin Shinawatra, has invited three players from the Thailand national team to the club for a trial. The striker Teerasil Daengda, full-back Suree Sukha and central defender Kiatprawut Saiwaeo have been invited to try out at the club.

I did until last season, when he started throwing his toys out with the pram. I don't think JM wanted Shev. He didn't fit the system of football we played. But, Roman wanted him. Forced him on JM. We played 442 because of it. And we all know how that turned out. (Cups notwithstanding)

But, since the peace pipe was smoked a few weeks ago, I think we're now going to be back to our best again, because JM feels secure in his job (and in the autonomy of his job). And Roman has had his moment in the sun, and has gone back to being the silent guy with the money.

Which, I might add, is just the way I like him.

PS: I thought Smertin was a good, solid squad player. I personally didn't have a problem with him being in a blue shirt.

When Smertin was signed I know almost nothing about Chelsea(except Abramovich`s takeover), but even then I thought it`s a complete joke.

He was very good for Lokomotiv Moscow, but for English team with Champions ambitions. Not a chance.

And, of course, when Lampard scored opener against Bolton Smertin was dressed in a substitute jacket.

Though it`s difficult to judje for me, because the only Smertin`s highlight I`ve seen was his first and last goal at the same time in blue shirt.

P.S. Sheva is our oldest striker, I believe he needs more time to get in-form. This season is the last opportunity for him to make an impact, he`s very professional, he understands it.

As for me I`ll be very happy if he scores 10-12 league goals in addition with some cup ones.

In the same way that he's soon going to be invited to a trial in Thailand!

Nice one Kenn icon_wink.gif

He did when he invited Smertin........

By the way do you rate him high during his presence at Stamford Bridge?

Smertin was a decent player for us I thought.

Where's he playing now? Anyone know?

After Charlton, he was in Dinamo Moscow for one russian season (spring - autumn system icon_redface.gif )

And this winter he was invited by Fulham`s Chris Coleman. It was free transfer and his past contract with Dinamo was terminated with "agreement from both sides"and at the same time FC Dinamo owed Smertin more than 1 million dollars as salary which is still to be paid.

You must understand how sick&tired he was, because he said "F**k it. I want to sign new contract and play as soon as possible".

He moved to England, has played some games in starting squad. And then it takes little time when Coleman was sacked and Smertin, by the fortune`s smile, was put on the bench under the new coach.

To be continued this season..............

Yeah Smertin was going to be the start of an influx. looking back now he was just another player...and happened to be Russian.
