Here's a very random musing, and something I can't get my head around. Why do the English fans and media love Gerrard, and yet cannot stand Lampard? I was having this discussion with my friend the other day who until recently, could not stand Chelsea and hated Frank Lampard - problem is, he couldn't really say why.

The only thing, after much thought, he came out with was Frank's celebration whereby he kisses his wedding ring - I'm inclined to agree, and can definitely see why it'd irk some people, but compared to the moany, disloyal, sulky, diving Steve Gerrard, surely there's no contest? *shrugs*

some of it is down the fact that stevie me is looked upon as a working class lad done well. whereas lamps is deemed to have had a priveliged upbringing. in the same vain as le saux was called a homosexual because he was different to most players, so lamps is looked upon with a mixture of fear and loathing, simply because he is of above intelligence. the thick fear what they dont understand. and lets face it, the majority of football fans in this country are only barely above amoeba level.

Jealousy, it's a terrible thing.

i think it comes down to the simple fact that he is on Chelsea. If you ask a cfc supporter they'll say Lampard is better and then ask a Liverpool supporter and they'll say Gerrard is better. What annoys me about Gerrard is that predictable shot he always does-Teamate passes the ball to the top of the box and Gerrard smacks it, regardless if it goes in the net or out of the stadium people will always say "magnificent shot from Gerrard." then with Lampard he'll shoot the ball and the goalkeeeper will make a save, but people everywhere will say "what a weak shot, not a class player." This debate will be ongoing forever, just like who's the best player ever , or real madrid vs barca, or messi vs. ronaldo vs. kaka.

and at least there isn't a video dedicated to all the mistakes one player could make in one game on youtube :

I'd take Frank everytime, but not just for his footballing ability, but his all round attitude and how he conducts himself. I know we're only really interested in the footie side, and we want the best players regardless of their attitudes... but Gerrard appears to have the personality of a twig.
