Posted March 11, 200817 yr Listening to Talksport ... sport? It seems all they can find to talk about at the moment is whether Alonso should play tonight or whether he should be with his wife when she gives birth. To me it's a non-argument with no rights or wrongs. If he want to be at the birth then he should, and if he doesn't, then he should be allowed to play. Simple as that. The point of this being, yet again, what a rubbish station Talksport is so much of the time. A more contentious issue is why I still bother listening to it.
March 11, 200817 yr At the end of the day, footballers are employees paid to do a job for their clubs. In the rest of the world, it would be completely unreasonable for any employer to at all question whether an employee should have to sacrifice being there for the birth of their child for work, no matter how important their job is. Anyone who thinks any different takes everything a bit too seriously if you ask me.

My two cents in this non-issue: the way I understand childbirth, the mother doesn't want the father anywhere near her, ever again, and lets him know that from the top of her voice.
March 12, 200817 yr At the end of the day David O'Leary? Is that you? Hey. Anyone who can spend 100 million on players and turn Leeds from Champion's League material to relegation fodder gets my vote.
