Rafa's confusing mind games

OK, so we've already had his 'Watch out for Drogba' dossier, that has been well publicised, and was an obvious attempt to influence the ref ahead of the game.

Now we have this, to be honest, quite baffling comment:

'This referee has had six games in Europe this season, five times the home team has won and the other was when Chelsea won in Valencia," said the Spaniard. "Maybe that is curious.'

What exactly is curious about that? Essentially he is trying to stir up some sort of consipracy theory before the game has even happened, but this most recent effort just smacks of desperation.

Tosser, I hope he is humiliated tonight.

I think we should have some of our groundstaff standing right along side the technical area in case Benitez gets out of hand with the 4th referee. Tosser. Love to see that bloke from Millwall give him a bit of how's ya father if he gives any lip.

Git! But look on the bright side. Whenever he shoots his mouth off before a match, he always ends up looking like a prize t**t.

I know what I'd like to do to Benitez, and it involves an object the size of a canon entering an orifice the size of a pea-shooter.

Sorry. Aussie for a handshake of the firmest kind but where the fist is closed and not looking for the opposing hand.

No problem... 429.gif

I had a vague idea what it may be, but I was just curious about what exactly it was. I've always found these sort of phrases sort of funny...like this and say Glasgow Kiss for example. I'm still not sure if that's a headbutt or not, though. icon_lol.gif

Well what about this then (one of my favourite film lines - adapted for the occasion od course)

"I think that that (Benitez's comments) represent in you a degree of hypocrisy that I've hitherto suspected but not noticed due to your highly evasive skills."

Loz is know where that comes from.

It's all part of the game; I actually don't hold it against him. Remember, Jose did it quite a lot as well, and Wenger and Ferguson do it as standard practice.

He is basically trying to pressure the referee to think twice about giving us anything for fear that he would be seen to confirm what Rafa's said. But I trust that referees are above this sort of thing. You have to, otherwise we might as well pack it in and forget it.

Rafa is under a lot of pressure. We definitely hold the upper hand and he is just trying to give his side the best chance possible. I'm afraid putting doubt in the referee's mind is part of improving that chance. We might not like it but he's doing his job.

Cheers,

Butch

Youlots, I've got another one for Rafa from that movie:

"Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos, and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight."

His hairline is receding fast and that's why he's been getting all these tantrums lately. icon_lol.gif

Yeah but don't you think he's overstating/girding the lily a bit as far as the referree is concerned? If I was the ref I'd be clearly annoyed at these rather transparent and obviously manipulative sort of comments. Of and by itself it's a dangerous game that he plays as far as the ref is concerned. But then again maybe he knows more about the ref than we do?? Why we can't have a german/dutch ref anyway? I mean italian refs are either very good or very bad imo.
