bonetti
What would you prefer? The new manager to come and stay for 2/3 years and then start again a la JM or the new manager to come and build a dynasty over the next decade. Of the short list I feel that Mark Hughes is the only dynasty candidate - I would prefer this option but what about everyone else?
ethicalstrategy
Can't really see much of an argument for the short term approach. We have established ourselves as one of the two top clubs in England and in the top 4 or 5 in Europe so we can afford to spend a little time now establishing a longer term structure. BLUENUT
To allow long term stability, whoever is appointed will only keep their job if performances and results are good enough. The club needs stability at the moment, for that it needs a manager who is left to manage and call ALL the shots in matters that are football related - the merry go round will continue if players are forced on the new manager or if there's interference from people the new manager didn't employ. A manager who is allowed to manage is what I want first and foremost! Then, if Jose hasn't been wooed into coming back, it'll have to be Hughesy. A young hungry manager likely to be here for the long haul (pending results), Chelsea supporter as a kid, ex-player, a backroom team which includes Steddie Eddie and Hitchy. Let's just hope whoever it is last's longer than 8 months when taking us to 'the next level'!
Guest
Since Roman's showed up we've... * Won the Premier League......twice * Won the FA Cup * Won the Carling Cup.....twice * Have come from basically nowhere to being the top ranked club in Europe (as per co-efficients) and * Been one of the most successfull teams in world football during this period, quite possibly the most successful (Barcelona and AC Milan probably the other option) Is that not dynasty stuff? BLUENUT
Lets not bother with a manager then....it obviously all down to Roman and his money.

Perhaps going a bit far, but I think we need to be realistic here. Without money we can't build and maintain a top team over an extended period of time and without a top team, winning silverwear consistantly isn't going to happen regardless of the manager. BLUENUT
I think last season proved it has more to do with the manager than the money pumped in! - trophy-wise anyway. BTW all those trophies were won by the manager we let go at the beginning of the season. We need a manager who is allowed to manage, and someone who is in full control of the dressing room - just like our most sucessful manager ever If we get that - whoever it is, can stay as long as they like

No, I think Red Nose and the Whinger have been allowed to build dynasties
