I saw Kaka talking up the premier league earlier. If Roman is at all still interested in making this club the most successful on the planet we need to move for Kaka, and spare no expense landing him. This is the one time we are in a situation where handing over a truck of dough might actually propel us to that higher level. Before City assemble a CL competitive squad and while we have a Brazilian in charge we need to move for Kaka. I don't think I have ever once suggested we go in for players at the high-end, preferring players who will give our club a distinct identity. In this case though I really feel we need to start making the overtures asap (landing him in January would not be easy, but perhaps at the beginning of the summer window).

Perhaps with the credit crunch and the collapse of the Russian economy this is no longer feasible, but I think this could be a club changing player and establish us at the top for the coming post-Ferguson generation.

Kaka has said once he's not going to leave. Maybe he changed his mind now. But I don't believe that. And he surely doesn't want to become the second Sheva of AC Milan. Although it depends on him.

Secondly, he would cost half the globe. Sure he is a great player and I'd enjoy to see him wearing the blue shirt. But even if we had the cash to spend on him I think there are better ways to spend the money and persuade other players to come to Stamford Bridge.

As much as I would like to get Kaka one has to wonder if we wouldn't have too many midfielders with him in the squad too?

Lampard

Deco

Mikel

Essien

Ballack

Kaka

I would be time to start rotating the squad.

PL game: Deco - Mikel - Lampard

CL game: Kaka - Essien - Ballack

Its a problem but deco has went off form but is still guarented a place so competition would maybe help him, lampard can't be dropped, Mikel would make a good sub, essien has to start, ballack is a good rotation and kaka would have 2 start but would still would have to play well to keep his place. so it might not be a bad thing.

True, but Lampard, Deco and Ballack are all in their thirties, and Essien's not gonna be back for a long time... :(

However, a midfield in a few years of:

Kaka - Mikel - Essien

...sounds rather good.

Kaka? If he does move to the Premiership, it's more likely to be to Man City. From what I hear, Robinho has been trying to encouraging him to make the move, and his reaction to this has apparently been quite favourable.

Exactly what I thought in the other thread in the rumours

If we merged with Man City, that would solve everyone's problems :P

We could add their good strike force to our competent defence to make the ultimate team.

Not to forget we'd ultimatively become the richest club in the world. Haha

In the recent months I got the impression that Robinho is the only, only, only player in the world who would suit Chelsea. In the summer months it was annoying because it was obvious he wouldn't join us, although nobody would have thought of the final outcome. When he joined City I was convinced the story has found an ugly ending. But now I'm really fed up with every Robinho-story. If Scolari will leave after Cluj we would be out of the CL competition. Maybe out of every competition this year. But this will have a positive thing: we could finally forget Robinho forever.

Yes, and add to that the fact that midfield is not where we have a problem.

The final third is where we need improvement.

50 million for Kaka = 17 million for Arshavin + 15 for Huntelaar + 10 for Zarate + 8 million to spare. A play for Kaka would be of great symbolic importance, but imo it would make no tactical or financial sense

Robiniho reminds me of the wee bold winger who took the premiership by storm when he made his first appearence for chelsea. what i would give for a fit robben. Bring back robben and Gujohnson.
