blizeH
Just spotted this article over at Yahoo Sports, and you know what? I think it's bloody brilliant. I'm sure I'm not the only person glad to see the end of the ridiculous speculation of us signing every top player that looks like they might be semi available (Ronaldinho, Kaka, Villa being some of the recent examples) and indeed paying silly money for players - £270m in three seasons for example, including big money transfers for Crespo, Veron, Shevchenko, Duff, Mutu, Tiago, Parker who could all be considered flops, as well as a few players that I'd argue we payed well over the odds for. So! Here we are now being linked a bunch of players ranging between £1.2m and £8m, and there's not a single one which I don't think would prove to be a very nice piece of business. Tuncay for £8m? Still only 26 years old, a great attacking player and very versatile with regards to positions he can play. Thiago Silva for £1.2m? The guy who's apparantly the most promising young centre back in Southern America? Yes please. Should prove to be a great replacement for Alex if/when he leaves too, sounds like a similar player to Carvalho so he'd be learning from the very best if he came here too. Zaki for what, £6m? Yes! I think he'd be a brilliant person to come into the team when Drogba is injured, suspended or generally being a muppet. I love Drogba, really, I think he's incredible - but he's so unreliable, Zaki is the perfect man to bring in when the Drog isn't available. Orlando Sa for £4m? Portugese wonder kid, don't know a lot about him but the fact he's described as a 'Portguese Wonderkid' sounds like an absolute winner to me. This is the sort of player I'd like Chelsea to go for, a young player with bags of potential. Screw Messi, screw Ronaldo, screw Kaka, screw Robinho - let's try and find the next one instead. Apologies for the slightly long winded post, I'm just so happy to be linked with players who I genuinely think could do great things for Chelsea, and at relatively bargain prices too. You've got two players there who are almost certainly going to have very bright futures, and two players who are already proven in the Premiership and still relatively young. Awesome. Guest Sindre
Thiago Silva is gone to AC Milan. Zaki is nowhere good enough for Chelsea. A typical one season wonder that won`t follow up later. Reminds me of McCarthy, Doyle and so on. Has not seen to much of Tuncay but his scoring record at Boro doesen`t impresse me very much. Orlando Sa is promising and he is worth a shot. I agree that is good to see that we are not going to be spunking cash left right and centre on anything with a pulse anymore (i think BIG lessons were learned with a certain Ukrainian superstar) however i think its now all the more important that we make the right signings at the right price. Of the players you mentioned i dont know anything about Silva but firstly i hear he has sgined for Milan and secondly we do not need another centre back anyway. I know nothing about Sa but id be wary of the wonderkid tag. Didnt we hear the same about Paim ? And as for Zaki and Tuncay i dont think either are good enough for us and the level we aspire too. Its going to be tough to get the right players, that is for sure.
loz
Silva also has a history of injuries which would challenge Darren Anderton and this despite still being relatively young. If Alex goes we should just bring back Mancienne. It is impossible keeping four top drawer centre halves happy, we should opt for three and one youth prospect. blizeH
Bugger, didn't know about Thiago Silva and AC, is it confirmed or just a rumour? Not sure about Zaki, he looks absolute quality from what I've seen of him, but likewise I'd have Geovanni in a heartbeat also, maybe I'm just fickle
loz
Silva to AC Milan is just a rumour at the moment but it is a pretty strong rumour with his agent basically saying the deal is done.
